If you\u2019re looking for great <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/hong-kong\/japanese-restaurants-in-hong-kong-sushi-sashimi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Japanese restaurants<\/a> for some late-night \u201csnacks\u201d, Fukuro is a izakaya-style restaurant &#8211; opened in SoHo by Black Sheep Restaurants &#8211; that serves light Japanese dishes paired with refreshing cocktails.<\/p>\n<h3>What we love about Fukuro<\/h3>\n<p>From the outside, Fukuro looks like any other anonymous Japanese late-night den, shrouded in black and somewhat secretive, but once you find the door, you step away from the busy streets, you\u2019ll find yourself in an elegant den suitable for after-work snacks or late-night shenanigans.<\/p>\n<p>We started off with the vegetable pickles which was a light, savoury and tangy appetiser that had the exact right crunch to kick off the meal. A seasonal sashimi platter then followed, which was incredibly fresh and served alongside freshly grounded wasabi with sweet and savoury soy sauce.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_155168\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-155168\" style=\"width: 900px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-155168 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/static.thehoneycombers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/fukuro-butter-corn.jpg\" alt=\"fukuro butter corn\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/static.thehoneycombers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/fukuro-butter-corn.jpg 900w, https:\/\/static.thehoneycombers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/fukuro-butter-corn.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.thehoneycombers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/fukuro-butter-corn.jpg 768w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 900px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 900\/600;\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-155168\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The crispy corn is buttery and well seasoned and instantly melts in the mouth<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Fukuro corn had a crispy herb skin that once bitten into, has a buttery texture and immediately melts in the mouth &#8211; yum! It was both savoury and sweet and acted as a great transition for the larger courses. I definitely recommend you try the Hamachi Collar which is a delicate fish dish, grilled slowly over binchotan coals and topped with Fuji apple ponzu. Once you place your fork into the fish skin, it slides effortlessly off the bone (so good!), and has a lemon zest essence to it that left us wanting more.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_155167\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-155167\" style=\"width: 900px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-155167 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/static.thehoneycombers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/fukuro-hamachi-collar.jpg\" alt=\"fukuro hamachi collar\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/static.thehoneycombers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/fukuro-hamachi-collar.jpg 900w, https:\/\/static.thehoneycombers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/fukuro-hamachi-collar.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.thehoneycombers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/fukuro-hamachi-collar.jpg 768w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 900px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 900\/600;\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-155167\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">We definitely recommend you try the Hamachi Collar when visiting Fukuro<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Next up, we tried the Wagyu Sukiyaki that was well marinated and flavourful and topped off with shallots and enokitake. The mix of the raw egg yolk gave the dish a creamy texture, while still remaining very light. Lastly, we enjoyed the Monako Ice Cream that is flavoured with a seaweed \u2013 shock horror! \u2013 but tastes amazing thanks to the addition of cherry sake and monaka wafer.
