When we are not out hiking through Hong Kong<\/a>, enjoying happy hour<\/a> at one of our favourite bars or working out at the gym<\/a>, chances are you will find us binge watching a series on Netflix. So, we here at Honeycombers were pretty excited to hear that the internet television network has announced the first Chinese language Netflix Original series, \u64fa\u6e21\u8eab (Bardo) from Taiwan.<\/p>\n

First Netflix original series in Chinese: \u64fa\u6e21\u8eab (Bardo)<\/h3>\n

While you may have already binged Japanese language show Terrace House: Aloha State or Korean favourite The Sound of Your Heart on Netflix, as yet there hasn\u2019t been a Chinese language Netflix Original series. But the international internet television network is set to change this with the recent announcement of the first ever Chinese language series \u64fa\u6e21\u8eab (Bardo) for Netflix Original series.<\/p>\n

A jailbreak thriller<\/h3>\n

The show follows the journey of Ah Quan, a man waiting in prison for his execution. An encounter with a mysterious inmate throws the man\u2019s life into disarray as he starts experiencing events from alternative timelines. Blending jailbreak with Taiwanese aboriginal mysticism and karmic destiny, the show follows Ah Quan\u2019s search for redemption.<\/p>\n

Netflix teams up with IFA Media<\/h3>\n

For the eight-episode jailbreak thriller series, Netflix is working with award-winning production company IFA Media and writer\/director Sam Quah, a rising Taiwan-based writer whose short film The Free Man was short-listed for an Oscar in 2015.<\/p>\n

\u64fa\u6e21\u8eab (Bardo) is currently preparing to shoot, and there\u2019s no news as to when it will be released, but Netflix can confirm that the show will be available to members around the world at the same time, so stay tuned.<\/p>\n
