The CBD<\/a> isn\u2019t exactly the first place you\u2019d think of in the sphere of Singapore staycays<\/a>; if anything, especially if you flock to this epicentre of the concrete jungle<\/a> on a daily basis, you avoid this area like the plague on weekends. But piercing towards the skies amidst the lacklustre terrain of grey commercial skyscrapers, is a new hotel<\/a> that\u2019s hardly an eyesore \u2013 a towering garnet pillar with a steep domed peak, with massive, angular spaces carved into its anatomy, and green vines dangling across its 27 storeys like a dystopian daydream come true. On the outside, Oasia Hotel Downtown, Singapore<\/a> is already an architectural achievement<\/a>; if I hadn\u2019t had a room booked, I would\u2019ve lingered outside just to comprehend how constructing such a monolith was possible. But who was I kidding? Luxury waits for no one, and I wasn\u2019t going to waste my staycay tenure on wide-eyed voyeurism.<\/p>\n

Up to the 12th<\/sup> storey I rode, and I\u2019m greeted with a spacious lawn that overlooked the skyline; I later hear this is where guests like to roll out their yoga mats for their morning routine \u2013 understandably so. The calm serenity continues to engulf as I turn towards the concierge, set against emerald tiles and copper ceiling lanterns. It is at this point where my hostess calls me, telling me that I had to go up to the 21st<\/sup> storey \u2013 I was apparently on the wrong floor.<\/p>\n

Bewildered, I followed the instructions, and what awaited me was what\u2019s regarded as the quintessence of Oasia hospitality \u2013 the Club experience. Up here, club guests gain access to a more exclusive, exquisite affair. For starters, the lobby here is much different \u2013 wood planked floors and patterned steel walls are contrasted against bronze curtains and teal Oriental-like partitions. The Club lobby inhabits a tall, wide open space with unobstructed views of the skyline on all sides, so a soothing breeze is always present. And while I was tempted to drop my bags and dive straight into the gorgeous infinity pool, resting between sun loungers and tepee-shaped cabanas, I resisted the temptation, checked in, and proceeded to my Club Room upstairs.<\/p>\n

Before even entering my living quarters for the day, I was already entranced by the clean, elegant, copper corridors, with room doors flushed against the walls to create a streamlined pathway. As for the 28sqm Club Room itself \u2013 a plush bed tucked beneath a cosy wooden arch carved with Aztec-shaped patterns, a Smart TV and tablet device provided for guests in need of connectivity, and a floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the sparkling pool in the lobby.<\/p>\n

My favourite feature in the Club Room, however, was the bathroom \u2013 particularly, the sliding mirror walls that allow you to customise your own space, pandering to whatever privacy settings you require. I like my open spaces, so the ability to spring out of the bed and amble straight into the rain shower scores brownie points in my book. Not to mention, soaking in the tub while sipping on the complimentary Tripod Coffee capsules and <\/em>streaming Spotify from the Smart TV to the bathroom? Do not disturb, please.<\/p>\n

Oasia Hotel Downtown, Singapore embraces three wellness pillars \u2013 Refresh, Recharge, and Refuel. And I certainly discovered the first pillar at the hotel\u2019s three <\/em>swimming pools \u2013 one at the Skyline Pavilion on Level 21, and two rooftop pools on Level 27. Architecture firm, WOHA, turned the latter into a visual marvel, once again. The space is designed such that you\u2019re swimming beneath the domed summit of the building; pillars sprout from the pool towards the steel, complex, interlocked structure above, which lets in just the right amount of sunlight without being too imposing. Lounge on the sundowners, assembled within the pool itself, or chill on one of the pod-like swings with your favourite book.<\/p>\n

The second pillar, Recharge, is embodied within the hotel\u2019s aforementioned yoga space on Level 12, and 24-hour gym where you can tone up, boost endurance, and get those calories burning. And if you stay at Oasia Hotel Downtown, Singapore, as a club guest, you might feel a little conscious of your calories indeed with its three dining options \u2013 exemplifying its Refuel pillar. Club guests get to savour complimentary breakfast in the club lounge, all-day refreshments, and two hours of free cocktails in the evenings. Or otherwise, they\u2019re free to adjourn to the ground floor for the modern bistro offerings found in The Marmalade Pantry, a household name amongst brunch lovers. And for tipples, we strongly recommend the new secret agent-themed bar, Cin Cin, for anyone who\u2019s a gin guru \u2013 we have so much to say about this waterhole, we\u2019ll be saving a full review for it.<\/p>\n

So applying Oasia\u2019s tripartite formula for a well-rested staycay \u2013 did I feel refreshed? Never better. Recharged? Bring it on, world. Refuelled? I\u2019ll definitely say \u201ccin cin\u201d to that. Revisit? Absolutely. Whether you\u2019re a local looking for an urban-focused staycay, or a tourist who wants a hyper-connected abode in the heart of the city, or even a slave to the CBD who wants to see the area in a bright new light, Oasia Hotel Downtown, Singapore, should very well be your next pick. This hotel isn\u2019t just built to awe; it\u2019s built to pamper.<\/p>\n
