After envying my husband\u2019s work-driven \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/short-trips-from-singapore-6-places-to-visit-in-asia-for-weekend-getaways\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">getaways<\/a>\u201d for too long, I decided that a restful weekend for myself was just what the doctor ordered. Swimming in a luxurious king-size bed with no one there to steal the covers; no early morning baby-driven wake-up call; and the option to call room service at any time to indulge your whims? Yes, please!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>So I booked myself a <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/hotels-in-orchard-road-singapore-we-review-hotel-jen-tanglins-high-tech-amenities-and-personalised-offerings\/#ezSLJuwGQyIa1yMB.97\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">staycation<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/directory\/parkroyal-on-pickering\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">PARKROYAL on Pickering<\/a>; the hotel has been around for a few years now, but it\u2019s still a striking addition to the <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/cheap-lunches-in-the-cbd-the-best-meals-for-just-under-10\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">downtown skyline<\/a> with its distinct waving architecture dotted with <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/hiking-in-singapore-15-essential-walking-trails-to-get-your-trek-on\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">trees and cascading greenery<\/a>. Sitting on the edge of <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/chinatown-neighbourhood-guide\/#IWbr5Tv6U1qK6Vvr.97\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Chinatown<\/a>, it\u2019s wonderfully situated amongst vibrant streets of shops and restaurants, without being too far from the <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/eat-raffles-place-singapore-best-places-lunch-cbd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">hub of CBD activity<\/a>. Indeed, this is where I would relax and escape!<\/p>\n<h3><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-91744 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/d22ir9aoo7cbf6.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/04\/IMG_7948.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7948\" width=\"900\" height=\"550\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 900px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 900\/550;\"><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Let\u2019s start with the room\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>PARKROYAL on Pickering has plenty of eco-features, including greenery-lined open-air walkways as you approach your room, which offer stunning 360-degree vistas. The room goes well beyond the basics \u2013 the high ceilings and big windows made it feel even roomier and more open, but there was also a sliding door (more like a wall!) which gave me the option to close off the vast bathroom for privacy. There was also a super comfy king-size bed, plus a desk and sitting area which came well-equipped with a comfy bathrobe and slippers \u2013 my uniform for the weekend!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Enjoying the privileges like a boss <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If your aim is to relax and truly enjoy the property, then a room on the Club Floor is a must. The 16<sup>th<\/sup> floor (the very top of the building) is dedicated entirely to the the hotel\u2019s Club guests and restricted to everyone else (hello VIP!). They even serve <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/champagne-brunches-in-singapore-hotels-and-restaurants-for-bubbly-buffets-and-fancy-eats-in-the-city\/#iWyGpqmSxydvRGpX.97\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Champagne breakfast<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/weekday-high-tea-singapore\/#oFhRTJSFRMqjiSvU.97\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">high tea<\/a>, and cocktail <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/best-happy-hour-deals-in-singapore-drink-cheap-at-these-spiffy-bars-in-town\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">happy hour<\/a>, with a <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/best-buffets-in-singapore-where-to-go-for-a-top-notch-all-you-can-eat-spread-of-international-bites-seafood-delights-and-more\/#TP4vw0XTwH6J6uOG.97\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">buffet<\/a> of tasty snacks all as part of your room booking. The quality of the food was amazing, the service was top-notch, and you really do feel special being able to access this eagle\u2019s nest of privilege \u2013 highly recommended!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Getting physical, the posh way <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Of course, I went into the <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/take-dip-singapores-sexiest-pools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">pool<\/a> and I used the <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/gyms-in-singapore-where-to-go-for-the-best-workouts-and-fitness-training-sessions\/#HqYRUoskuGvQjiRl.97\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">gym<\/a> \u2013 but if I\u2019m being honest, neither of which lasted very long. The gym did have a wonderful open view of the city beyond the infinity pool, overlooking some of the striking poolside cabanas that reminded me of very chic birdcages. The fifth floor is almost entirely dedicated to an open-air garden walk, complete with a spice garden which I did attempt to explore\u2026 but I\u2019ll admit, the call of my king size bed was too great.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Can you say spa-ahhh\u2026?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you\u2019re planning to relax, a <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/spas-in-singapore-best-places-for-facials-massages-and-body-treatments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">spa visit<\/a> is a must! I had a lovely oil massage at the St. Gregory Spa. The spa is located just next to the pool, but once you enter, you\u2019re enveloped by the rich wooden d\u00e9cor and lovely <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/aromatherapy-candles-singapore-buy-scented-tealights-diffusers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">aromatic smells<\/a>. It\u2019s especially a treat that, following your massage, you don\u2019t even need to get dressed \u2013 just throw on a bathrobe and mosey back to your room!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-91752 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/d22ir9aoo7cbf6.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/04\/SuperLunchSunday-9.jpg\" alt=\"SuperLunchSunday-9\" width=\"900\" height=\"550\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 900px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 900\/550;\"><\/p>\n<h3><strong>What else? Super Lunch Sunday, that\u2019s what<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>My staycation involved a lot of delicious eating, well more than I intended! The Super Lunch Sunday is a decadent buffet affair with all kinds of food to choose from \u2013 there was <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/best-chili-crab-in-singapore\/#DkcxRSFkLe3c1Qlz.97\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">fresh seafood<\/a> (king crab legs!), <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/where-to-find-the-best-sushi-in-singapore-japanese-restaurants-and-bars-that-make-perfect-nigiris-makis-and-more\/#hI8m1xJA7s0RqQwS.97\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">sushi<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/best-steaks-in-singapore-where-to-go-for-the-most-exquisite-beef-cuts\/#kpzdXEFfmELq1Y1j.97\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">carvery<\/a> (wagyu!), fresh <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/italian-restaurants-in-singapore-where-to-go-for-top-notch-pasta-pizzas-and-more\/#1BLxIzU6Bj7didoa.97\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">pasta<\/a> station, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/indian-restaurants-in-singapore-our-top-spots-for-curry-spice-and-everything-nice\/#6SEi74MObHhvLO15.97\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Indian<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/halal-restaurants-in-singapore\/#HJ7pCCSkV5sludlF.97\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Malay<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/best-laksa-in-singapore\/#iiQy9KvEijrhMqwi.97\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Laksa<\/a>, an assortment of <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/where-to-buy-cheese-in-singapore-grocery-shops-with-gourmet-cheeses-from-around-the-world\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">cheese<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/bakeries-in-singapore-best-spots-for-artisanal-bread-in-the-city\/#CcKSSTjrW0qiH0qR.97\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">baked<\/a> delights, fresh fruit and <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/juice-singapore-best-juice-bars\/#Qg7943yCYOXfQzm4.97\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">juices<\/a>, and too many <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/singapore\/desserts-in-singapore-5-new-spots-to-hit-up-for-ice-cream-cakes-hot-chocolate-tarts-and-more\/#UkdRzQV4rc4XLJSU.97\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">desserts<\/a> to mention (so I\u2019ll just say chocolate fountain)! And the choices go well beyond standard buffet fare \u2013 from the Lobster Eggs Benedict to the Red Velvet Nitrogen ice cream which is made right in front of you. Needless to say, over-indulgence was a foregone conclusion, but <em>so<\/em> worth it.<\/p>\n<p>My staycay really felt like a vacay without any of the hassles of travel \u2013 I think I may truly be a staycation convert! How did I feel as I left PARKROYAL on Pickering?
