With the pandemic gradually coming under control in Hong Kong (thank God), most sports facilities have been reopened just in time for summer—which means it’s time to whip out those tennis rackets! Aside from the lush monkey hikes, sunny beaches, and beautiful Chinese temples, add these tennis courts to your to-go list. Here’s our guide to where to play tennis in Hong Kong.
1. Victoria Park
Smack in the middle of the city, Victoria Park has hosted the Hong Kong Open, and has an enclosed tennis arena that can seat 3,600 people. It also has 13 courts that anyone can book. The facilities are very clean and well kept. And if you still want to get a workout after tennis, you can always go for a run around the track.

2. Hong Kong Football Club (HKFC)
Don’t be fooled by its name—this football club offers much more than just football fields in its premises. With six courts perched on the building’s rooftop, players can practise while enjoying the view of the Happy Valley skyline, making the HKFC one of the best places to play tennis in Hong Kong.

3. The American Club Hong Kong
Nestled between Stanley Main Beach and Turtle Cove, and overlooking the bay, The American Club is a beautiful spot to play tennis. Boasting three clay and three AstroTurf courts, this location offers the spice of variety in terms of court surface. The club also provides ball machine rentals, coaching sessions, and social mixers. 4. Ladies Recreation Club (LRC)
Next on the list has to be the Ladies Recreation Club in the Mid-Levels. The LRC offers ten tennis courts, including two indoor courts. You get a good variety of court surfaces here as well, with the option to play on synthetic hard and clay courts. This place is super swanky, having pools, bars, a bowling alley, and many other facilities. The only downside is that you need to be a member, or accompanied by a member, to enjoy these benefits.

5. Discovery Bay Recreation Club (DBRC)
With its vibrant tennis scene (and hot tennis coaches, apparently), DB has several tennis courts in the area. The Discovery Bay Recreation Club has 11 courts, with eight hard ones and three soft ones. Over at Club Siena, which is also managed by the DBRC, there are another five hard courts. However, like most other clubs on this list, you’d need to be a member of the Club, or accompanied by one, to use the facilities.

6. Hong Kong Golf and Tennis Academy (HKGTA)
This fancy training centre offers 19 acres of golf course, seven outdoor tennis courts, and one indoor court, set amidst the picturesque Sai Kung landscape. The Tennis Academy here was founded by Luis Bruguera, who has chosen Hong Kong as his perfect tennis destination.

7. HKTA Tennis Centre
Maintained by the Hong Kong Tennis Association (HKTA), this Tennis Centre in Kowloon Tsai Park offers eight courts, plus services like coaching and fitness training. It costs $57 per hour to rent a court with floodlighting, which isn’t bad at all.

8. Hong Kong Tennis Centre
Not to be confused with the tennis centre above, this one is in Wan Chai and managed by the LCSD. There are 17 courts: three of them are for playing singles only, and the rest for singles and doubles. Two practice courts, which are half the size of the standard tennis courts, are also available.

9. Tsing Yi Park
If you live near Kwai Tsing, you’d be familiar with the quaint Tsing Yi Park. Located near the pier, Tsing Yi park has seven clean and well managed hard courts.

10. Shek Kip Mei Park
Also managed by the LCSD, the tennis courts at Shek Kip Mei Park are often merited for their cleanliness and relative tranquility. Take a short hike up to the second phase of the Park for its eight courts and some fresh air on the mound.
