Passionate about helping Hongkongers, John Keane created Fit4Life for individuals looking for fitness and personal growth.
How’s returning to the office for you? Whether you’re glad to be back or missing your WFH lifestyle, the lengthy pandemic has, undoubtedly, left a lasting impact on our mental and physical health, even affecting our performance at work.
And it was in the midst of the protests and the pandemic when John was introduced to the work of Tony Robbins, the Father of Coaching. Since then, John has transitioned his work to become a High Performance Coach. Faced with clients struggling to manage their health, mental wellbeing, and work performance, he created Fit4Life – a six-month transformational coaching programme that helps individuals recalibrate themselves and find their path. Find out more about his journey.

Hi, John. What is your backstory and why did you decide to launch your coaching business?
I’ve always had a keen interest in fitness and personal development, but it was the pandemic that truly highlighted how easy it was for what we’d taken for granted, to be taken away. Some of the things I valued the most – travelling, socialising, my football practice, and even just going to the gym – were all put on hold. It took a lot of personal work and trainings, which I conducted through my various certifications (including the NASM Certified Personal Training, PTCT Certified Executive and Leadership Coach, and Associate Certified Coach (ACC) with International Coaching Federation) to understand how mindset shifts can help conquer challenges. Thus, I began my coaching business and I’ve seen almost immediate results with my clients worldwide. But, with Hong Kong as my home for over six years, and having seen how resilient the people have been, I have designed the Fit4Life programme specially and only for people here in Hong Kong.
What exactly is the Fit4Life programme and how did you develop it?
When talking to my friends, clients, and even parents at my day job (Director of a childcare centre), it became apparent that a lot of people were going about their physical wellbeing with separate and mismanaged approaches: one person would be following a certain diet, while the other is using a personal trainer, and the third is doing massages for stress busting. The current fitness industry is designed to get results physically but, a lot of the time, the results aren’t progressive and sustainable. Why? Because they haven’t identified the root and fixed their problems at the core. There is always an underlying reason that stops us from exercising, that stops us eating healthy, that causes us to crave comfort instead of growth.
Fit4Life is designed to be the complete opposite of that. Yes, it provides personalised exercise programmes and nutrition support – everything that your traditional coaching programmes provide. But, the key component is approaching your physical health as a part of your holistic health. Your reason for getting fit is informed by your personal and professional experiences; maximising your potential is not just a physical endeavour, but one that impacts all aspects of our life. What we do in the gym is only about 6% of what we really need to focus on to live a happy and fulfilled life.
How did your own fitness background inform this programme?

This programme is a combination of my own fitness journey, my own mistakes and learnings, as well as the best of my high performance coaching programmes – all rolled into one package. It’s a programme I wish I had access to ten years ago and one I follow myself currently. Not only has it helped me feel more powerful and productive, it’s also brought out the most authentic and happiest version of myself. My friends and partner even say that this is the most outgoing I’ve ever been! Not sure what I have to say about that…
What are the key components of Fit4Life?
To tackle this giant undertaking, the programme is a six-month, custom-made exercise schedule delivered via a training app. To help you start off, you’ll be provided with a Fitbit, one month’s worth of Nutrition Kitchen, Vital DNA Test, and Hormone Testing Panel. Moreover, in order to sustain your focus and growth, there are weekly group class, focus Mondays, mindset and productivity trainings, wellness meetups, and high performance coaching sessions with me!
What has it been like partnering with brands such as Nutrition Kitchen and Fitbit?

Each partnership with a brand or company is one that I use myself and highly recommend, which is why I’m happy to bring them into my programme. I personally have been using Nutrition Kitchen for about two years now. I love how it takes all the complexity and guesswork out of nutrition. I know exactly what I am putting in my body, how it’s sourced, and that it’s of good quality. All clients will be sent 20 meals from me to kickstart their nutrition, and will have access to a special discount afterwards if they continue to use Nutrition Kitchen.
Who is the Fit4Life programme for? What can participants expect?
The programme has been specifically designed for the busy, high-performing Hongkonger who wants to take control over their life. Those of you who want autonomy over their health and wellbeing, and want to invest in their fitness and personal development, Fit4Life is the programme for you. It makes you take a good hard look at every aspect of your life and improve them holistically to find your ultimate harmony and balance.
Finally, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
