Hong Kong running races and events in 2021
Although many races and trail running events have been postponed in the last two years due to COVID-19, Hong Kong runners have still been lacing up their shoes and hitting the trails. The good news is that recent amendments should make it easier for races to apply for exemptions as long as the event includes the proper COVID-19 protocols. Plus, trail running benefits the general public as a form of healthy outdoor exercise that poses a low risk of COVID-19 infection.
1. Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2021
One of the most anticipated marathons in Hong Kong runs annually and this year, the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon will be held on 15 October. Run the full, try the half, or sign up for the 10km race as an individual or as a team. There’s only a limited quota of 18,500 for this year’s event, so get on your toes and register! But if you didn’t get a spot, don’t be bummed – a virtual run will be held from 25 October to 14 November. Runners will be given designated distances based on categories and they can be free to choose the route (a gym treadmill counts!).
