Commemorating Obayashi Nobuhiko, the famous Japanese director who passed away last year, The Treasure Box of Love and Death: Obayashi Nobuhiko Film Showcase is screening nine selected works by the esteemed filmmaker in November. These films are among the collection of the Japan Foundation and include four rarely seen works from the 1980s. You’ll be able explore the various motifs and meanings in Obayashi’s pieces, such as home, playfulness, pacifism, and the tragedy of love.
The Treasure Box of Love and Death: Obayashi Nobuhiko Film Showcase is presented by the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong and The Japan Foundation; it is also co-presented by the Hong Kong Arts Centre, and supported by Japan Autumn Festival in Hong Kong – Rediscovering Nippon.
