From 7- 10 December, Phillips will support the Sovereign Art Foundation (A charity with a twin focus to recognize and promote the wealth of contemporary art talent in Asia, and bring the proven benefits of expressive arts to disadvantaged children.) and exhibit sculptures from the organisation’s Year of the Pig project in its exhibition space at the St. George’s Building in Central.
Year of the Pig is a public art project and fundraising initiative that brings a citywide line-up of painted pig sculptures to Hong Kong. The pigs represent unique art pieces as interpreted by some of today’s most sought-after local and international contemporary artists, as well as friends from the local arts community, young participants of Sovereign Art Foundation’s local charity initiative – the Make the Better programme – and members of the Hong Kong public. Over the past few months, the pigs have been displayed in various locations around the city, including shopping malls, restaurants and an airport lounge.
Now some of the pigs are united in this exhibition. All sculptures are for sale and proceeds will go, without deduction, to the Make It Better programme, which supports children from low-income familiesand with special educational needs by offering them empowering learning activities reinforced by expressive arts.
