This student-initiated “Colour Away Covid” art competition is an excellent opportunity for students (aged 12-18) to help the community’s COVID-19 relief efforts through their creativity. Each participant is asked to submit a pattern design (template on the website), and the winner will have their design printed on at least 100,000 surgical masks. A significant portion of masks will be donated to communities in need, especially low-income or at-risk children who will be returning to school in September. Current charity partners include Hands on Hong Kong, SoCO and the Children’s Kidney Fund.
This initiative is founded by a group of students in Hong Kong who are eager to raise crucial awareness about the need to care for youth during COVID-19. We were inspired to start this project after a close friend contracted the virus and had a difficult recovery (despite being young and healthy). Therefore, we strongly feel that more should be done to help and protect the youth in Hong Kong. We have partnered with Zionburg, a Hong Kong-based manufacturer of surgical masks to convert a winning pattern idea to reality. If you are interested in sponsoring or purchasing masks, feel free to reach out to [email protected] or contact us on Facebook or Instagram (@colour.away.covid).
