Ophelia Jacarini is pleased to present BLOOMED, a solo exhibition of her accumulative body of work over her past 5 years in artistic growth. Her efforts of producing and hosting this exhibition independently sees Ophelia featuring her entire series of work from canvas paintings and photography to installations and performance art. On display is an obsession and a continual examination of the beauty of the human body and its fluidity in movement discovered through her journey and development as an artist.
Producing and hosting the exhibition independently, Ophelia takes on multiple roles as curator, artist, manager and more, defining locations, determining themes, and managing operations. She seeks to offer a different perspective that may not be shown in galleries; one that shares with Hong Kong a view into artistic process, growth, ideas, and creation over time. Believing that understanding of an artist’s beginnings and their past works can provide perspective to where they may progress, Ophelia aims to capture a dialogue with viewers through retrospection about topics in which she explores.
As her early works manifested themselves as concepts onto canvas by painting, time in journey transformed her latter work into form and actions through dance, collaboration, and dimension. As the emerging artist continues her examination of the human body, she moves towards concepts that weave notion of time, spontaneity, space, and presence. Extending the opportunity to viewers, Ophelia invites the public to see the process of growth, creation, and progress.
