Ever debated with friends where the best places to eat in Singapore are? Us too! And award-winning French restaurant, JAAN, at Swissôtel The Stamford, usually gets a mention. It doesn’t get much better than JAAN if modern fine dining is what you’re after. Oh, and did we mention the view? The Singapore skyline from 70 floors up is a sight we’re willing to part with our hard-earned dollars for. What’s more, Christmas and New Year’s Eve at JAAN sounds like a festive treat you’ll be talking about long after the Christmas decorations have gone and the last of the eggnog has been chugged.
The recently-appointed and award-winning Chef de Cuisine, Kirk Westaway, has curated a series of yuletide menus to see you through the entire festive period. Expect his signature style of using only the freshest, seasonal ingredients to leave you oooh la la-ing in delight. But it’s not just the food that’s worth getting excited over; with a vino cellar stocking over 500 old and new world wines, we haven’t been this stoked since finding reindeer hoof prints on our front porch last year. Francophiles; brace yourself for a masterclass in culinary expertise.

Three, five, or seven course festive lunch
We are salivating at the mere prospect of this lunchtime feast. Though we can rarely polish off more than three courses, this menu sounds so scrumptious that we’d be tempted by a full-on seven course blow out! Featuring the likes of white truffle chestnut veloute with potato gnocchi, kabocha squash cannelloni, roasted venison saddle with celeriac ribbons and conference pear, and clementine citrus sorbet, deciding what to order might just be the hardest decision we’ve had to make all year.
Available from 7 – 31 December; three courses $88++ per person, five courses $128++ per person, seven courses $178++ per person.
Christmas Eve eight course degustation festive dinner
Christmas is the one time of year to indulge sans that guilty feeling! Which is why this eight course degustation dinner is a great way to pass the time while waiting for Santa. Each course is finely crafted and showcases one ingredient at its absolute finest. We’re talking hand-dived Scottish scallop tartare, majestic Irish oysters, roasted langoustine tail, Brittany turbot, and roasted Challans duck. Yum! Wrap up this delectable dining experience with the intriguing ‘ivory caramel with textured chocolate’. Double yum!
Available on 24 December; $358++ per person, inclusive of a glass of Krug
New Year’s Eve 10 course Degustation festive dinner
Make your last supper of 2015 one to remember with this whopping ten course gastro-extravaganza! The Christmas Eve menu makes a return with the addition of chestnut veloute with truffle, and Cornish wild sea bass with crayfish sauce. But most significantly, that crackin’ view we mentioned earlier will place you in prime position to catch the fireworks lighting up the Singapore skyline. It might be pricey, but it’s up there as one of the most sophisticated tickets in town.
Available on 31 December, $498++ per person, inclusive of a glass of Krug
