Even the staff greeted me with a resounding &#8220;ciao!&#8221;. This modern Italian restaurant stands loud and proud on Petitenget in Seminyak, with an enormous grand entrance that leads to a stunning air-conditioned, light-filled restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s here in this &#8216;indoor garden&#8217; where the magic really happens, where Executive Chef Lorenzo De Petris presents classic Italian and Mediterranean flavours with precision and local soul. All the pastas are made in-house \u2013 they even extrude the semolina pasta with a Monferrina machine from Italy. As for the Neapolitan-style pizzas, they&#8217;re made from 24-hour fermented dough, then fired in lava stone ovens.<\/p>\n<p>I started with the green garlic schiacciata, the grass-fed beef tartare and the cold smoked sardines, before moving onto the BBQ market fish and the pork chop cotoletta \u2013 perfectly crisp, and lifted with confit lemon and capers. Then the pi\u00e8ce de r\u00e9sistance was rolled right to our table: the table-side tiramisu, generously spooned directly onto our plates.<\/p>\n<p>The drinks hold their own too (and the martinis are just as theatrical), thanks to Bar Manager Luca Marcolin and Beverage Director Denny Bakiev. I ordered The Amalfi Martini, which was mixed and stirred table-side. It\u2019s one of the few <a href=\"https:\/\/thehoneycombers.com\/bali\/beachfront-restaurants-bali-ocean-views\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">beachfront restaurants in Bali<\/a> that doesn\u2019t need to shout to be heard \u2013 there\u2019s no Wi-Fi, no social media or any loud marketing. Just open-air dining and old-school service in a breezy pavilion, right by the beach. Even the walk to the restaurant is a treat, past Petitenget Temple and over a cute little bridge. I\u2019ve been coming here for years \u2014 and it hasn\u2019t changed, which is exactly why I keep returning.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian-style menu is straightforward but beautifully done. There\u2019s grilled fish, some of the best pasta I\u2019ve ever tried, and crisp salads for on the side. Even the olive oil and focaccia while you wait is pure perfection.
