I didn\u2019t catch the name (the menu changes often), but it was the kind of cocktail you sip slowly, just to figure out what\u2019s going on. Raka explained how he is always experimenting with recipes and botanical ingredients, so no two visits are ever quite the same. And even if they were, you’d still want to come back again and again. It gives speakeasy vibes but without the gimmicks, snugged away on Ubud’s Jalan Goutama ‘eat street’. It’s intimate and unapologetically cool \u2013 a proper nightcap destination with soul.<\/p>\n Must-try cocktails: <\/strong>Moonbeam Lover, Monkey Business Night Rooster Menu<\/a> \u00a0Book Night Rooster<\/a><\/p>\n There\u2019s fancy, and then there\u2019s sipping a negroni at The Bvlgari Bar<\/strong><\/a> at sunset. This sleek bar is perched on the top of the cliff at the Bvlgari Resort Bali, meaning the views are simply breathtaking. Getting here is an experience in itself too. I hopped in a buggy from the lobby, winding through immaculate gardens until we reached the edge of the world (or so it felt).<\/p>\n The bar itself is chic but not stuffy \u2013 it’s totally open-air with subtle nods to Balinese design. I timed my visit with the Italian Aperitivo hour (6-7pm) which is when small complimentary bites are served with each cocktail. I went classic with a spritz while the sky turned just as orange as my drink. As the sun sets, the moody lighting makes it a really romantic date night<\/a> destination.<\/p>\n After the sun slipped away, I wandered over to Il Ristorante \u2013 Luca Fantin, which is easily one of the best fine dining restaurants in Bali<\/a>. Like I said \u2013 there’s fancy, and then there’s this.<\/p>\n Must-try cocktails: <\/strong>La Dolce Vita, Bvlgari Cocktail, Oak-Aged Negroni The Bvlgari Bar Menu<\/a><\/p>\n Sometimes, to find the best bars in Bali, you need to know exactly which street to walk down and which door to open. And that’s exactly the case with Whisper Cove<\/strong><\/a>. This speakeasy-style bar is hidden down a quiet street in central Ubud, and you could almost miss it if you didn’t know it was there. Step inside, and it\u2019s a moody, intimate bar with vintage interiors, warm lighting, and the kind of setting that takes you away from Bali for a moment.<\/p>\n I slipped into a booth and the vibe was exactly what I needed \u2013 a low hum of music, candles flickering, and a bartender who knew just what to recommend. I started with the Petal Elixir \u2013 delicate and floral with jasmine and calendula. Then came the Geisha: Roku gin, maraschino, white chocolate, and a float of red wine… it shouldn\u2019t work, but it absolutely does.<\/p>\n The bar bites are quietly brilliant too. Since it’s often busy here, this bar isn’t the kind you’ll have on your weekly agenda. Instead, it’s one of those places you have to try at least once, and book in advance for a special occasion.<\/p>\n From the lobby of AYANA Estate, it’s a short walk to the inclinator, which takes you down to the bar. Once you’re there, it’s all about incredible ocean views and coastal cocktails to match. And wow, the views really are spectacular. The bar is west-facing which makes it a prime sunset spot. During peak season, you’ll need to arrive early to nab the coveted cliff-edge seating. But wherever you perch, you won’t be disappointed.<\/p>\n Must-try cocktails: <\/strong>Notoro, Rock My World Rock Bar Menu<\/a> \u00a0Book Rock Bar<\/a><\/p>\n I’ll never forget the first time I arrived at Ambar Ubud Bar<\/strong><\/a>. It was when I realised the word ‘breathtaking’ literally refers to moments like these, where you physically gasp and lose your breath. It sounds dramatic, but honestly, so are the views. The bar sits high above the jungle treetops, with a sweeping vista over the deep river valley. It turns out, Ambar actually means \u2018sky\u2019, and it really does feel like you’re perched in the clouds, with a perfect view of the sunset (the bar is west-facing).<\/p>\n I arrived early to catch that golden glow, and found a spot in one of the sunken lounges. The cocktail list is inspired by nature, and somehow, the drinks really do match the setting (some even have floral garnishes). I started with the Yuzu Negroni (a twist on the classic), then moved onto the Cempaka Fizz, which was so easy to drink. The Mandapa Cobbler was another standout \u2013 layered and earthy with a subtle sweetness. There are also small bites like sushi, sashimi, and complimentary canap\u00e9s, which felt more like fine dining than bar snacks. It feels like stepping into another world: think low lighting, a moody atmosphere, and a killer cocktail list.<\/p>\n The menu is small but focused, and every drink is a standout. Local Indonesian ingredients are the real heroes here, spun into inventive creations. My top picks include the Torch Ginger Martini and the Jaffa Negroni \u2013 both of which use local flavours for a spin-off on the classic. But the real magic started when I got my hands on the cocktails.<\/p>\n The standout was a herbaceous number spiked with local arak and a twist of something citrusy I couldn\u2019t quite place \u2013 the bartender said it was local kalamansi from the garden. It turns out, all of the ingredients are either grown on-site, or sourced locally from Indonesia. And beyond the drinks (which are, honestly, incredible), TELU\u2019s mission hits home. Every drink supports a local cause, and nothing goes to waste \u2013 even the citrus peels are repurposed. Stepping out at the top is like you’ve stepped into a different world (and the views are definitely out-of-this-world too!). You see, L\u2019Atelier by Cyril Kongo<\/a> is a private studio and cocktail lounge where the world-renowned graffiti artist (Cyril Kongo) has poured his passion into every corner. It certainly doesn’t feel like a hotel bar.<\/p>\n I grabbed a seat out on the terrace, overlooking the entire resort with the scent of cigars curling through the air. So of course, I ordered the Apurva Old Fashioned to match the vibe. It was smoky, complex, and subtly spiked with local flavours. Just like Kongo’s art, every cocktail here feels considered, layered, and just a little bit rebellious.
