Pura Lempuyang, the oldest Hindu temple in Bali. Known as the &#8220;Gateway to Heaven&#8221;, this temple is perched on top of Mount Lempuyang in Karangasem. There are 1,700 steps to climb, but the views of valleys, volcanoes and the ocean make it all worth it!<\/p>\n<p>For those wanting to take a picture at the gate, you have to take a number and wait your turn. I won&#8217;t lie, it could take up to four hours during holiday season! But with multiple temples within the area, there&#8217;s always something to explore while you wait.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Local tip:<\/strong> After taking a coveted pic at the Gates of Heaven, we went to other nearby and equally gorgeous spots in East Bali &#8211; Tirta Gangga and Taman Ujung.<br \/>\n<strong>How to get to Lempuyang temple: <\/strong>The best way to get there is by a private car for a stress-free ride, as the streets are narrow which wind around the hillside. There are so many great spots to catch the perfect sunset. But, Bali&#8217;s south-western coastline gives you front row seats to the glowing show. My favourite is Seminyak, but other popular sunset beaches in Bali include those in Uluwatu and Canggu.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Local tip:<\/strong> Prop up at one of Bali&#8217;s best sunset bars and beachfront restaurants. It sits directly below the ever-famous Single Fin, which is the main access point to world-renowned Uluwatu surf breaks. Come low tide, this spot is a true hidden treasure for a secret swim. Set against stunning dramatic cliffs, the water here is as turquoise as it gets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Local tip:<\/strong> When it\u2019s high tide, this beach is somewhat inaccessible. So be sure to check the tide times for your trip, and don\u2019t forget to pack your bikini.<br \/>\n<strong>How to get to Suluban Beach: <\/strong>To get to Suluban Beach, you\u2019ll need to walk down the steps between rugged cliffs. It&#8217;s truly a sight to be seen for fans of Balinese craftsmanship. Here you\u2019ll find the sky-scraping GWK statue &#8211; it&#8217;s the fourth tallest statue in the world! It depicts the Hindu God Vishnu riding Garuda bird.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the day, you can walk around the park and admire stone carvings, or catch one of the cultural events. There is a nightly special dance performance that&#8217;s the first ever collaboration between Kecak dance and Ogoh-Ogoh. It&#8217;s a cultural parade featuring a gigantic Garuda puppet.
