Sanur is one of Bali’s most liveable beach neighbourhoods: a slower-paced, family-friendly stretch of the east coast where locals, expats and visitors have mixed easily for decades, and I’d know: I’ve called it home since 2006. It’s changed a lot since then. New restaurants, cafes and villas keep landing, ICON Mall and Bali International Hospital have moved in, beachfront hotels line the shore, and the sleek Sanur Harbour runs daily boat transfers to Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Penida. What hasn’t changed is the pace: Sanur still feels unhurried, walkable and genuinely mixed-generation in a way few other parts of Bali do.
