Bali doesn’t do afternoon tea the traditional way. But the handful of hotels and beach clubs that commit to it do it properly, with cream-covered scones, cucumber sandwiches and delicious twists on classic sweets. After 14 years living here and working my way through every spread on this list, I’ve shortlisted the best afternoon teas in Bali<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Expect fine china and tiered stands, and even boozy packages for high tea with bubbles. You’ll find these afternoon tea spreads in Ubud, Seminyak, Nusa Dua, Sanur and Uluwatu, with prices from around IDR 200,000 to well over a million rupiah<\/em>.<\/p>\n

A quick good to know before you book:<\/strong> Bali menus use “afternoon tea” and “high tea” interchangeably, even though they’re technically different British traditions. Afternoon tea is the lighter ritual of sandwiches, scones and cakes served from around 2pm, while high tea is traditionally a heartier meal served closer to dinner. Most of what’s below (and what’s available across the island) is really afternoon tea, whatever the menu calls it.<\/p>\n
