Nestled in the hillsides of Uluwatu’s rolling landscapes, Hidden Hills Villas<\/a> is so much more than just a place to stay. Home to luxury private villas, rejuvenating spa treatments, and now, a gastronomic restaurant known as Hidden Gem Restaurant & Wine Lounge<\/a>\u00a0it\u2019s an all-encompassing resort that has thought of everything. Having had the pleasure of experiencing this hidden gem firsthand, I have to admit, my stay was a fantastic mix of pampering, chilling and a LOT of wining and dining\u2026<\/p>\n

Not your typical check-in<\/h3>\n

The award-winning Hidden Hills Villas\u2019 hospitality began the moment we were picked up in our very own private car, promptly whisked away to Uluwatu. Upon arriving at Hidden Hills Villas, you can’t miss the incredible panoramic views of the Uluwatu coastline; the perfect perch to enjoy its legendary sunsets. We stayed in a generous five-bedroom villa with a private pool and spa – it was beautifully decorated in subtle Balinese decor, with a plethora of en-suite bathrooms of all different styles.<\/p>\n

In fact, no two rooms at Hidden Hills are the same, and almost all furniture pieces are custom-made. That\u2019s the beauty of staying at a family-owned, boutique luxury villa resort – you get truly personalised service, meticulous craftsmanship, and thoughtful touches at every turn. We particularly loved the environmental touches, like the recycled wood, antique furniture, and the fact that we barely saw any plastic throughout our stay.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s no surprise then, that Hidden Hills Villas is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World member, winning prestigious awards such as the Best Small Luxury Hotel in Asia, and the Best Luxury Hideaway Resort in Asia\u2026<\/p>\n

Wine and dine at Hidden Gem Restaurant<\/h3>\n

The highlight of our stay was without doubt the recently unveiled Hidden Gem Restaurant & Wine Lounge – a casual fine-dining sunset destination perched majestically atop the hills. The restaurant’s Californian and wine-inspired concept was a delightful surprise, because some days you don\u2019t want to head out for dinner. Having an amazing dining experience in the villa (with Bali\u2019s largest wine-by-the-glass selection, no less) was a big tick for me.<\/p>\n

With its warm colour palette and contemporary furnishings, Hidden Gem’s interiors are tastefully designed, reminiscent of an upscale Californian eatery while retaining a Balinese aesthetic. The attentive staff greeted us with genuine smiles and a palpable enthusiasm to guide us through the gastronomic experience that was to come.<\/p>\n

The menu, a fusion of California’s finest steakhouses and Asian influences, was a testament to the chefs. The emphasis here is on premium, locally-sourced ingredients, and each dish is a masterpiece in presentation and flavour. From the perfectly grilled rib-eye steak with a delectable teriyaki glaze, to the delicate tuna tartare infused with zesty Asian flavors, Hidden Gem did not disappoint.<\/p>\n

What truly set Hidden Gem apart was its wine selection. With more than 30 wines from across the globe available by the glass, wine is not just an accompaniment here, but an integral part of the dining experience. The staff’s expertise in suggesting wine pairings was commendable, elevating the flavours of each dish. They even offer wine flights to really give you a taste of the cellar\u2019s repertoire.<\/p>\n

And what a spot to enjoy it all in. The al fresco set-up added to the enchantment, with fairy lights around the infinity pool, and that ever-present Californian vibe\u2026<\/p>\n

Hidden Hills, refined<\/h3>\n

In 2021, Hidden Hills Villas underwent an expansion, now home to 15 exquisite villas, including the welcome addition of eight new studio villas. This expansion speaks volumes about their commitment to providing an even more tailored and luxurious experience for their guests. What truly sets Hidden Hills Villas apart is their dedication to detail, and the love poured into each villa – a sentiment that reverberates through their meticulously designed living spaces.<\/p>\n

What’s equally impressive is Hidden Hills Villas’ unwavering dedication to sustainability. Amidst the opulent design and luxurious appointments, a commitment to eco-conscious practices is interwoven.
