After a very<\/em> successful event in Sanur last year, Jia CURATED<\/strong><\/a> is returning to Bali Festival Park once again, from 14th to 18th August 2025<\/strong>. This year, this arts and culture festival will carry the theme “Evolving Perspectives”. In case you missed last year’s event, Jia CURATED is an immersive festival that celebrates culture, community, live performances, and local and international design. But what\u2019s even better is this year, it\u2019s happening over five<\/em> days.<\/p>\n

At Jia CURATED, you\u2019ll get the chance to meet the makers, join insightful talks, groove to local bands, and connect with Bali\u2019s creative community. To give you an idea, the last event attracted more than 6,000 like-minded festival-goers and 100+ brands. This year, it\u2019s set to be even bigger and better than before. So, here\u2019s a taster of what you can look forward to at this community event, and everything you won’t want to miss\u2026<\/p>\n

Functional furniture, designer homewares and large-scale art installations \u2013 Jia CURATED has got it all!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Jia CURATED has been put together by Budiman Ong, Rudi Winata and Yang Yang Hartono. These Indonesian powerhouses aim to connect designers and brands through curated events and retail experiences. So it\u2019s only fitting that at this five-day festival, you\u2019ll get the chance to browse through more than 150 local and international brands.<\/p>\n

Each brand has been carefully selected for the different stories they tell. There’s the history of the makers, the philosophies behind the products, and stories of how they came into being. And most of all, they share the same value: to respect traditional crafts while creating pieces that make modern life easier.<\/p>\n

What am I looking forward to? The architecture models by Bali\u2019s own Ibuku<\/strong> and Blanco Studio<\/strong>, the curated art trail across the park (try and spot Gaya Ceramics<\/strong> along the way!), functional furniture and homeware made from recycled waste, and the \u201cLight Between Lines\u201d Bookshop built using reclaimed materials, as part of the festival’s new initiative \u201cWaste to Wonder\u201d.<\/p>\n

More than a feast for the eye, Jia CURATED also gives you a chance to meet some of the most creative minds in the world. The talks program, 360\u00b0 Design Dialogues, has been thoughtfully curated by Design Anthology. A diverse team of panellists will explore eight hottest topics in the design world right now.\u00a0Look out for keynote speakers Sabine Marcelis<\/strong> and Fernando Laposse<\/strong>, as well as\u00a0designers from Norm Architects<\/strong>, Heatherwick Studio<\/strong>, Potato Head<\/strong>, and more.<\/p>\n

There will be live performances happening from sundown onwards, ranging from traditional to contemporary shows. You\u2019ll find me grabbing a front-row seat to Jasmine Okubo and Ental Puppet Theatre<\/strong>, and a traditional musical performance by Daniel Nuhan<\/strong>. All before catching the old-school funk and disco band, Ika & The Soul Brothers<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Jia CURATED will take place at the graffiti-laced Bali Festival Park in Sanur. It\u2019s spread out over more than 10,000 square-metres of outdoor and semi-outdoor labyrinth-like spaces. You\u2019ll get to wander through abandoned buildings, overgrown vines and artsy-cool vibes. It\u2019s an architectural delight of its own \u2013 the most idyllic setting for a festival that celebrates local art, music, and Bali’s creative community. Can\u2019t wait to see you there!<\/p>\n
