Many a lovely afternoon has been spent sipping cocktails poolside feeling ever so stylish. So, when we heard they had opened Uma Cucina, a new Italian restaurant, we hightailed it up the hill prestissimo.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>We were lucky to sneak in a pre-dinner tour of the hotel\u2019s seventeen new rooms and would happily have moved into the new pool villa right then and there. Light and spacious with understated stylish interior d\u00e9cor, these new rooms really hit the mark.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/d22ir9aoo7cbf6.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/01\/064560_56307289_Uma_Cucina_bar_sm1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1325 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/d22ir9aoo7cbf6.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/01\/064560_56307289_Uma_Cucina_bar_sm1.jpg\" alt=\"mm881_Como_Uma_2013\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 640px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 640\/480;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But enough about the rooms, we were there to eat! And eat we did. Not before we tried one of the signature cocktails, the \u2018Uma Cucina Negroni\u2019, a divine concoction of Tanqueray, Campari, Martini Rosso and homemade strawberry jam, topped with Prosecco. \u00a0The bar staff has been trained by the Met team in London so you know you\u2019re in good hands and the cocktail list is extremely sophisticated, as is the wine list.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/d22ir9aoo7cbf6.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/01\/umaubud_bkg_cucina_pizza1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1323 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/d22ir9aoo7cbf6.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2014\/01\/umaubud_bkg_cucina_pizza1.jpg\" alt=\"umaubud_bkg_cucina_pizza\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 640px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 640\/480;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We chose to eat al fresco on the terrace but there\u2019s a great big communal table inside making it a fabulous spot to get together with a group of friends. The menu features lots of Italian classics \u2013 homemade pastas, thin-crust wood fire pizzas and breads, and heavenly gelatos. Not known to shy away from carbs after five, we went straight for the pasta with braised beef short rib ragu topped with\u00a0parmigano reggiano. Sublime.
