5 minutes with Chris Edwards in Bali
Bali has always been a favourite getaway destination for Honeycombers’ founder, Chris Edwards, and after an eight-day getaway Chris is back to reality but visibly revitalized by a week of shopping, massages and dining out. Here are her top 5 picks of the moment from the Island of the Gods.
1. Mister Zimi
Not sure whether it’s the bold happy colours, comfortable boots, or amazing Aztec designs applied to the fabrics, floors and even palm trees outside the store, but I just can’t seem to get enough of this local designer.
Tip: There are actually two Mister Zimi stores, and they both stock different ranges.
Mister Zimi, Jalan Kayu Aya No. 22 and Jalan Kayu Jati No. 8X, Seminyak, Bali, Indonesia. Open Mon-Sun 9am-8pm.
2. Salty Seagull
Another colourful addition to the Seminyak dining scene, the cocktails at Salty are spot on. Accompanied by seriously amazing service and some of the best crab we have eaten, you need to put this new casual crabs and ribs joint on the to do list.
Salty Seagull, Jalan Petitenget No.999 Kerobokan, Bali, Indonesia, p. +62 361 8497588. Open Mon-Sun 11am-1am.
3. kakilima by the sea
Sundowner alert: kakilima is a new fave for that relaxed beach sunset vibe. This low-key beach bar has a rolling green lawn, peppered with coloured lanterns, and cool old-school tunes playing. Go on Fridays and Sundays to catch live music by the talented and very sweet Al Fonz.
Kakilima By the Sea, Batu Bolong Street, Canggu, Bali, Indonesia, p. +62 361 4731706. Open Tue-Sun 12-930pm.
4. Livingstone Café & Bakery
When you need a burger fix (read: carbo loading for hangover), you can’t beat Livingstone Café and Bakery. This large warehouse style casual café has one of Bali’s best bakeries and is a great place for breakfast or brunch.
Livingstone Café & Bakery, Jalan Petitenget 88, Kerobokan, Bali, Indonesia, p. +62 361 4735949. Open Mon-Sun 7am-10pm.
5. Finn’s Beach Club
You might think you are in the Maladives as you float in the aqua blue waters at Finn’s Beach Club. With white sand, crystal blue ocean, and comfy beanbags served up by the attentive Finn’s staff – this is day out that keeps everyone in the family happy (if a little bit sunburnt).
Finn’s Beach Club, Jalan Pantai Selatan Gau, Banjar Wijaya Kusuma, Uluwatu, Bali, Indonesia, p. +62 361 8482111. Open Mon-Sun 9am-11pm.
