Swoon over this: an ultra-modern abode on uncharted island territory, where black sand beaches sit on your doorstep and Bali’s mystical mountains are your daily backdrop…
Nothing quite beats a cocktail-fuelled night out in Seminyak, or even an arvo of hipster-watching in one of Canggu’s coolest cafes. That is, unless you’re after a Balinese escape away from any hustle or bustle, where the only buzz is from Bali’s busy honey bees, and a trip to the nearest town takes you through valleys of rice fields or across palm-shaded streams.
For that, you’ll want to point your GPS towards Tabanan – a vast regency of patchwork green and gold fields on Bali’s south-western coastline. And even though the order of the day here is absolute nature (rather than Absolut vodka) there’s certainly no shortage of indulgences here. Oh no siree. Particularly at one of Bali’s most luxe addresses, Soori Bali.
This uber-contemporary resort sits on the sands of what’s been dubbed “Bali’s last frontier”, a region that’s so rich in terraces of rice, dramatic highland gorges and black volcanic beaches, it’s managed to slip under the majority of most travellers’ radars (but not ours!)
At the forefront of this resort, shaded by palms and illuminated by the twinkly, diamond-like sand, sits Soori Bali’s Ocean Pool Villas – ultra-modern private abodes that we were lucky enough to call home for a few fabulous nights – cocktails included, naturally.
Inside these architecturally perfected palaces (the work of renowned architect, Soo K. Chan) it’s all about the swoon-worthy sea views. Huge squishy beds point directly out toward the ocean, and cosy chillaxing areas beside the private infinity pool just beg for a Sangria sundowner – made even easier thanks to the help of each villas’ own butler…
Step outside and Soori Bali is home to the stunning Soori Spa (and one of the best massages we’ve ever had) as well as two oceanfront gourmet restaurants, a gym, library, and even a helipad just in case you decide to take the chopper for a spin.
Yup, Soori Bali is the jewel in Bali’s emerald landscapes, and whilst its interiors are esteemed worldwide, it still makes the most of its local surroundings (horseback rides on the beach, anyone?)
So BRB Seminyak, we’ve found a new address for our must-stay Bali bucket list…
