Cool, contemporary and with an all-important tropical beach feel. We've found an enormous and oh-so stylish Bali villa in the very heart of Seminyak, and you'll want to know where it's at!
From swanky Seminyak suites to jungle-like Ubud retreats, we at Honeycombers have seen it all when it comes to Bali’s hottest stays. But what we’ve come to learn is that not all Bali villas are created equally, especially in the highly sought-after Seminyak hood. There’s not always a never-ending glittering swimming pool, enough space to host an entire football team, or even fully-serviced facilities that mean you never have to brave the outside world if you so choose. In fact, it’s getting pretty hard to find all of the above under one roof in the heart of this bustling island town.
But there is one villa that has it all [and more], and though we certainly consider ourselves to be seasoned villa-hunters, we asked the lovely team at Good Living Asia [who specialise in tracking down luxe high-end villas in Bali] to find us one of the very best, and they chose The Cotton House – a massive, 2700 square-metre villa oasis smack bang in the middle of Seminyak. A total hidden gem.

This villa is an absolute standout, especially if you are looking for a villa for a large group of friends or a place to hold a special function like a small wedding or birthday bash. And though we could count a hundred reasons why The Cotton House is the villa for you, here’s our top 3:
1 – Size does matter
We strongly believe that there is no such thing as “too much space” – especially if you are travelling in a group, with children, looking to entertain guests or hosting a villa party. So the ¾ acre grounds of The Cotton House are a perfect fit. This mansion-like estate used to be three separate villas, now converted into one GIANT residence with 7 bedrooms and 4 living spaces. It has 600 square-metres of lawn in between each of the stately quarters and around the oh-so inviting pool, and each room is truly enormous – especially the master bathroom with its own walk-in that is quite simply off the charts! [You’ll just have to see it for yourself!]
2 – Interiors eat your heart out!
The Cotton House is seriously stylish. With a Ralph Lauren-cum-Hamptons theme and architecture inspired by the great houses of the Caribbean, no expense has been spared. There are a number of Stuart Membery designer pieces scattered throughout, as well as stunning and original Sparrow wall art [which was hand painted by a local designer], and beautiful Anna Spirio-like fabrics used in every room. It’s nothing short of a real-life interior design magazine.
3 – The “nothing is too much to ask” staff
Whether it was setting up the table to six-star standards every morning at the villa’s dining pavilion, or helping us on [and off] the treadmill at the in-villa gym, it seems nothing is too much to ask of the delightful Cotton House staff. And what’s more, they all speak excellent English, so no “lost in translation” moments that we’ve all experienced in Bali. A particular mention goes out to the cheery in-villa chef who was often found with one of our kids hanging upside-down from his arms or crawling all over him. He loved the kids, they loved him, and somehow he still managed to cook us up seriously big spreads of the most gourmet cuisine we could hope for in our own paradise home-from-home.
We’re a little worried that by sharing this inside info with you, The Cotton House might be fully booked the next time we want to check in, but we recommend you book through Good Living Asia. They not only personally inspect every villa to make sure there are no – ahem – unwanted surprises, they even set us up with massages, babysitters and pre-delivered food and wholesale wine – all part of the service. Not bad, eh? And what’s more, they’ll even help you find an alternative if we’ve already nabbed The Cotton House on the days you want to check in…!
