Bored at home, but still want to sit down with a good book and a great cup of coffee? We picked out the best coffee shops in Jakarta to read and work without distraction.
The introvert in us loves curling up at home with a great book and cosy comforter on a lazy Sunday, but for the days we’re feeling a bit of cabin fever all we want is a quiet café and a fresh hot cuppa to accompany us while we read or get some work done on the laptop. Luckily, there are amazing hidden gems that are perfect for parking yourself for the day with your laptop and favourite paperback. Here we’ve listed our go-to spots whenever we want to escape the crowds in the big city: from the cosy cafés in Kemang to coffee shops in Jakarta with the best brews that will make you stay for hours…

1. Twin House Coffee & Kitchen
If you’re looking to park yourself in a homey cafe, then you’ll want to check out Twin House. Each of its cafes gives you the comfort of a home, with a large indoor space, air-conditioning, potted plants and glass windows with natural lighting shining through. The seating is well-spaced, giving you enough room for an intimate chat or work-from-cafe day. You can’t go wrong with any of the coffees and pastries, and to feel even more at home, browse through the selection of international comfort food, from pasta and French toast to Nasi Goreng and Beef Gyudon too! Our fave is the Cipete cafe, complete with outdoor seating in the tranquil garden.

Luckily, First Crack Coffee is not only one of Indonesia’s leading roasters, it’s also a cosy cafe where you can escape the Jakarta crowds. While we love the well-spaced seating, the quiet nooks and the industrial designs, it’s the coffee that keeps us coming back for more. Our fave is the strong cold brew to cool down from the city’s heat and traffic. And psst… if you love the brews, First Crack Coffee is also a barista academy that teaches you the secrets to perfectly brewed coffee.
