Prego! Bali’s legendary Warisan has attracted an international, new kid in their foodie block as Asia's dining group debut their famous Italian dining favourites, wines and divine desserts on the island
Few moments in Bali wow as much as sipping a crisp vino with a group of great friends in a sun-kissed, open-air courtyard restaurant, overlooking rice paddies, and being luxuriously waited on as the mouth-watering food just keeps on coming. Bellissimo, it’s just another day in Seminyak after all.
Well, paradise now comes with a touch of La Dolce Vita, as one of Singapore’s most iconic and longstanding Italian fine dining destinations ilLido has moved into to Seminyak’s famous Warisan restaurant venue on Jalan Kerobokan. The first Bali location of Beppe De Vito’s stable – consisting of six, hip Singaporean restaurants – ilLido Bali brings fine Italian dining to the Seminyak Petitinget area with a menu of modern specialties that guarantee to be applauded.
Which brings us to the food. As you’d expect in Italian tradition, their exquisite pastas are freshly made daily in the restaurant, the star of the show. There’s too many to mention, but the Duck Ragu had us at hello.
Some favourites? An impressive selection of appetisers includes the Grilled Octopus with Nduja (exactly, a modern interpretation of the age-old Venetian favourite), and the soft, smoky heat of the homemade Nduja amplifies the succulence of the grilled octopus. Other sharing plates include the homemade Pumpkin Gnocchi Gratin and the Bone Marrow, Salsa Verde and Radish Crostini, which are perfect for groups of friends or family to commune over meals.
For mains, the Black Cod with Prawn Cacciuco is a delish homage to the fish soup of the Tuscan coast while the Angus Beef Tenderloin with Bone Marrow Crust is a must-try from the original menu of ilLido Singapore. Then, there’s that panna cotta. Exquisitely good. All in the name of research!
All appetisers, served sharing-style, are available all day from 1130am with main courses served only for lunch and dinner. A three-course set menu is available daily for lunch at IDR180,000 per person.
It’s a good thing it’s easy to get properly immersed in the Italian vibe at ilLido Bali, as you do need to take a few hours to fully appreciate this culinary experience… as they do in Italy. Salute, indeed.
