Mejekawi at Ku De Ta
It looks like we have yet another reason to head to KuDeTa Bali and it’s not just for cocktails on daybeds. Our favourite Bali icon has opened their highly anticipated new restaurant: Mejekawi – which loosely translates as sacred table.
Located on the newly built second floor, this super sleek space has an open kitchen where you can watch the masters at work. Surrounded by big glass windows which overlook Seminyak Beach, you won’t miss out on the fabulous Bali sunsets and ocean views.
Mejekawi offers a totally fabulous and unique dining experience with either a seven or eleven course meal plus some extra – surprise! – hidden courses. Using the freshest ingredients on the island, the chefs create flavours that are subtly Indonesian-inspired.
But this is more than just a restaurant, it’s a ‘tasting kitchen and laboratory concept’. You can keep your white lab coat back at the villa and leave it to the experts who are absolute whizzes with their state of the art equipment: immersion circulators, rotary evaporators, and homogenizers. While it might sound a tad scary, it’s not – just be prepared to have your tastebuds tantalized and excited unlike any time before.
If you’re feeling especially decadent then opt for the wine pairing option or try a cocktail concoction straight from the award winning mixologist’s deft hands.
Mejekawi is a very welcome addition to the fine dining scene in Bali. We may just need to make a few more visits to this new laboratory to experiment a bit more!
