When the little eyes are red from the chlorine and you need a break from the sand, surf and lazing about, take the little ones (and big ones) to go paint a pot.
The Jenggala ceramic factory in Jimbaran holds paint-a-pot workshops daily. The factory has a huge showroom, great little café and a craft station where your inner artiste and petit Picasso can choose to decorate a milk jug, mug, bowl, plate, cup, or other decorative items like cars, trains, aeroplanes, cupcakes, frogs, and even Christmas trees.
We attacked a frog and a cupcake with the red, green, yellow and black paint and had an absolute ball. Explaining the firing process to the little ones can be tricky (and disappointing for the under 4s), but when we returned 4 days later to pick up the glazed and very shiny objects, there were big smiles all around.
A perfect day trip, especially if you’re staying in Jimbaran or the Bukit – a family friendly activity complete with a memento to take home – it gets double thumbs up from us!
Jenggala Jimbaran, Ji. Uluwatu II, Jimbaran, Bali 80361, open daily 8am-8pm, Paint a Pot 9am-5pm, last session at 4pm.
