Here are our top picks for cool children's stores in Bali: from kids fashion to toys, arts and crafts and more!
Colourful, playful and artsy – these shops might cater to the little customers, but they attract us adults, too. Not just because we love splurging on our babies, but because they help to release our inner child too. Come play!
Em&Lu pyjamas and sleepover bags, pastel-coloured wooden ducklings and soft bunnies, bright pillowcases, neon after-swim ponchos, resin koi carp candleholders and some fine jewellery for mums. This place is an absolute treasure trove!
This is the largest bookstore in Bali, famous for its enormous stationary section. Korean stickers, Japanese glowing pens, envelopes of every Pantone shade, origami paper, heaps of ribbons, thread and beads for handicraft – you name it they have it. A dreamy adult stuck somewhere in between the aisles is an ordinary thing here. Because everyone needs a Retro Vespa piggybank in baby blue, right?
Unleash your inner hippy parent in this shop that sells organic cotton tees and onesies for babies and toddlers. These eco-friendly garments are made of 100% chemical-free textiles and are less likely to cause skin rashes. Smart cut, natural colours and naive patterns of tunics and comfy pants will fit any young yogi or tree-hugger-to-be. Welcome to Ubud!
This tiny place is packed with creativity: the Australian owner not only sources the coolest local and imported toys, books, musical instruments (think baby drum in neon!) and party supplies to sell at her shop, she also does custom-made funky pillows, dreamcatchers, mirrors, nursery floor mats and baby bed throws – which all come in awesome colours and textures. Drop in for a last-minute Bday party deco solution or gift idea and sign your kid up for one of the craft classes.
Bermain, 33 Jalan Pantai Brawa, Canggu, Bali, Indonesia, p. (62) 812 3766 9042. Open daily 9am-7pm.
Lil’ girls’ paradise: tassels and pompoms and beads, and a lazy giant chocolate poodle always ready for cuddles. This boho interior shop & cafe is not a kids’ store per se but it’s got small patrons covered. Crochet teddy bears, cute tea towels, books and albums – sounds like one perfect afternoon together with mum.

Girl Power meets Flower Power in this cute little boutique. Pretty flower-patterned fabrics are used for everything – from flirty diaper covers and panamas to princess-style dresses. And something for mums, too: a rack full of colourful beach kaftans for that matchy look with your little one.

Every piece displayed in this tiny shop screams ‘kawai!’: Japanese fisherman pants and kimonos for toddlers, tiny boots for the very first steps made of extra-soft leather, wooden spoons and tiny cute accessories. Little tip: stroll up and down cozy Dewi Sita street for hand-carved wooden toys, Bali’s traditional musical instruments in miniature, and puppets – perfect for a one-of-a-kind nursery!
While older kids can enjoy candy-coloured ceramics (mug with pink and green fish pattern, anyone?), the younger generation (or their young-at-heart parents) will inevitably fall in love with one of the ‘ugly’ creatures of the Udder family – Bandit Penguin and his buddies are handmade using high-quality fabrics, hand printed in the traditional Indonesian technique. Every collection of toys comes in limited edition.
