Well the good news is, quarantine is no longer required for fully-vaccinated foreign travellers into Indonesia. And for Indonesian nationals that only have one dose? Trust us when we say that serving quarantine in Bali after your international flight really isn’t that bad. In fact, we’re gunna go as far to say that it’ll actually be pretty special. The current quarantine period is 5 x 24 hours for Indonesian nationals who are partially vaccinated. Which, if you’re anything like us, that’s how long it takes us to get over jetlag anyway! Add to that the stunning views of Bali out yonder (from your swanky suite or private villa, no less) and we bet you’ll actually be sad to say goodbye to your little quarantine pad.

NOTE: All quarantine bookings must be booked directly with the hotel, NOT via online agents (like Agoda or Booking.com). Only confirmed Quarantine Package bookings made directly with the hotel are accepted, since they include 2x PCR tests, daily meals, transport, and a QR code which you’ll need to show upon arrival into Indonesia.
But first: All you need to know about quarantine in Bali
1. How long is the quarantine period in Bali?
Currently, all partially-vaccinated Indonesian nationals arriving into Indonesia must quarantine. The current quarantine period for Indonesian nationals who have just had one dose is 5 x 24 hours. During this time, you will receive 2x PCR tests: the first on Day 1, and the second on the day before you are due to leave quarantine. If both tests provide negative results, you are free to leave your quarantine hotel and may travel freely around the island, and Indonesia. Note: partially vaccinated foreign travellers are not permitted to enter Indonesia – this is for Indonesian nationals only.
2. Can I leave my room or villa during quarantine?
This depends on your choice of hotel. Half of Bali’s quarantine hotels are just like everywhere else in the world: quarantine means you must isolate from the outside world and remain in your private room or villa. However, the other half of Bali’s quarantine hotels and resorts have been designated to allow guests to enjoy hotel facilities in separated wings, called “Bubble Hotels“. For example, Grand Hyatt Bali in Nusa Dua allows you to use a designated pool, area of the beach, fitness centre and even morning yoga. Or at Viceroy Bali, you’ll be staying in an enormous private villa with its very own pool and breathtaking jungle views, meaning you probably won’t want to leave after your time is up anyway!
3. Can anyone quarantine in Bali?
Any arrival that is required to quarantine (AKA Indonesian nationals who are only partially vaccinated) can now quarantine in Bali providing the flight arrives internationally into Bali, not via Jakarta (or any other Indonesian city) first. If your flight lands in Jakarta first, you’ll need to quarantine in Jakarta, before flying onwards to Bali. For all quarantine hotels in Jakarta, you can view and book here.
4. What are the requirements to travel to Bali?
Indonesian citizens must simply show proof of at least one vaccination. For international foreign arrivals (non-Indonesians), tourists must have proof of complete vaccination, must hold a negative PCR result taken within 2×24 hours before departure, they must have downloaded the Peduli Lindungi app on their phone and all foreign travellers must also hold a valid visa (like the B211 Tourism Visa or Visa On Arrival). Additionally, all foreign tourists must show Travel Insurance with coverage of at least $25,000USD that covers Covid-related emergencies.
5. Can I fly direct to Bali?
Yes! As long as you find a flight that flies to Bali (AKA, not via Jakarta or any other Indonesian city first) then you can fly direct to Bali on Singapore Airlines, Garuda, JetStar, Scoot, Qatar or Batik Air. Note: international layovers in other countries (i.e via Singapore) still count as a ‘direct flight’ providing you do not leave the airport and the ticket is booked as one route.
6. Do I need to have a Coronavirus test before arriving?
Yes. On arrival into Indonesia, you will need to show a negative PCR (swab) test. The test must have been taken within 2x 24 hours of departure. Currently, all arrivals into Indonesia must also show proof of vaccination too.
7. Do I need to be vaccinated to visit Indonesia?
Yes. Proof of at least one vaccination is required for all Indonesian citizens arriving into Indonesia. Foreigners must be fully vaccinated. For Indonesian nationals, the number of vaccinations you’ve received will determine whether or not you need to quarantine. For those with two doses or a booster vaccination, quarantine is no longer required. Currently you cannot enter Indonesia if you are unvaccinated.
8. What is the quarantine process after arrival in Bali?
After arriving in Bali, you’ll receive your first PCR test. You’ll then be transported to your designated (pre-booked) hotel for quarantine via the transportation service provided by the government and ministry. You’ll then need to undergo your mandatory quarantine period. On the day before you’re due to leave, you’ll receive your final PCR test. If both tests are negative (from Day 1 to the final day) you’ll then be given a Clearance Letter stating you are free to leave your quarantine hotel the following day.
