Sure, Ubud is best known for its serene landscapes, quiet cafes and health-conscious yogis, but this spiritual neighbourhood is also home to a rocking cocktail bar that’s keeping us out late and our spirits up with craft cocktails, hip crowds and a regular roster of live bands every evening. We’re talking about No Más, of course.
This local watering hole sits on the top floor of a second-storey building right in the heart of downtown Ubud, and as you might have guessed, it’s positively buzzing almost every night of the week. Eagles of Death Metal play loud on a Thursday, Jameson and Captain Morgans are tossed around on Friday, and the island’s party crowds dot between bar stools and tabletops ‘til late on Saturday. We get it, it’s not what you’d expect from a trip to Ubud – but that’s why we dig it…
We also love the interiors here (don’t worry, we’ll get back to those craft cocktails in a second…) because unlike most cocktail bars, No Más hasn’t wasted time on fancy furnishings or pretentious fads. The ceilings are raw, the sofas are low and the line between indoors and outdoors is blurred by wild foliage poking through glass-less windows. It’s cool, it’s crude and yet it’s cosy, drawing in Ubud’s hippest crowds for good vibes only. Now, back to those cocktails…
Craft cocktails done right
The drinks list at No Más has been crafted by throwing caution to the wind: the finest house pours haven’t been mixed by award-winning bartenders or specialist mixologists, but rather by people who know a damn good drink when they make one. And that they do.
Try one of the seven signature Chakra cocktails to really get a taste of the drinks repertoire here, or go for a classic done oh-so right, like a Cosmo, Espresso Martini, or the No Más Bloody Mary that comes with a side of either fried chicken or a beef slider. Whatever you choose, it’ll be strong, serious, and will keep your toes tapping ‘til the wee hours.
And did we mention, there are rocking Happy Hours to keep you rolling throughout the week too? Every night from 7pm to 11pm, different cocktails, beers, wines and whiskeys are 87k net, and the Sangria Sunshine is just 104k for a glass, or 416k for a pitcher. And if that wasn’t enough to get your evening going, classic tunes from the likes of Bowie, Depeche Mode and The Black Keys will have you on your feet and shouting for “Más” in no time.
