The Line at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore is already one of our fave places to eat, but the hotel is taking things up a notch with a new Japanese fine dining restaurant and the best of heritage hawker fare at The Lobby Lounge
It’s no secret that here at the Honeycombers, we have a weakness for buffets -whether it’s brunch, high tea or an international spread, stop us before we start drooling! One of the best buffets in our books has got to be The Line at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, of course! With all-you-can-eat fresh seafood, Western and Asian roasts and desserts galore served over *gulp* 16 theatre kitchens, it clinched the top spot as “Best Buffet” at last year’s HungryGoWhere Awards. And if you’re a fan of their buffets (like us!), then you’ll be glad to hear that the hotel has just re-opened their renovated Tower Wing with two brand new dining options.
Indulge in Japanese nosh that’s fit for royalty
Chef Shigeo Akiba, whose clientele includes the Japanese royal family and other celebs, helms this new fine dining resto on the Tower Wing’s 24th level. Serving with the trademark Japanese omotenashi hospitality, you can definitely expect the royal treatment at NAMI Restaurant and Bar.
Grab a seat at the sushi counter and dig into authentic Japanese dishes like the signature pan-fried maguro tuna head with Chef Akiba’s sweet soy sauce, or steamed abalone in kimo sauce, while enjoying a front row seat of the chefs in action. Take in a panoramic view of the city with floor to ceiling windows, or head out to the restaurant terrace and dine on Japanese tapas and sake, al fresco-style.
Whatever you choose, be prepared to be blown away by the freshness of the seasonal ingredients, as they are air-flown from the best markets and suppliers in Japan, including the world-famous Tsukiji market in Tokyo.

Chow down on curated local grub
We don’t know about you, but for us, hawker classics never fail to hit the spot. If you have a soft spot for local street food like fish bee hoon soup, bak chor mee and Hainanese chicken rice, the new Lobby Lounge in the heart of the Tower Wing is right up your alley.
With a menu specially curated by popular food writer, Dr. Leslie Tay of ieatishootipost.sg, and fine-tuned by collaborations between Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore’s culinary team and the best hawkers in town, you know you’re in for a yummy treat.
For the best of everything, select the semi-buffet lunch which includes a wide selection of local appetisers and desserts from the buffet and choose from six signature dishes, or savour the three-tiered local afternoon tea experience. If that’s not enough, you can also opt for an a la carte selection of heritage dishes, which includes Katong laksa, chilli crab and mantou and prawn mee noodle soup.

Tuck into a classic high tea spread
Hankering for something a little more familiar? Swing by the newly refurbished Rose Veranda, which has been a high tea buffet hotspot since 1991! Feel like you’re in a Downton Abbey episode as you sip on tea and nibble on classic European snacks like scones and finger sandwiches. Fret not if your craving extends beyond pastries – the buffet also offers sushi, sashimi, roasted meats and all sorts of international grub.
