Local musicians and DJs, big names in the international EDM scene, and even a Meme-worthy Indonesian comedian-slash-hip-hop icon join the Ultra Singapore lineup
The Ultra Music Festival is just full of surprises, isn’t it? Shortly after we put out our ultimate guide to the Ultra Music Festival – that gave you the low-down on tickets, rules, hotels and main acts – the organisers have unveiled the rest of its lineup… let’s just say it isn’t exactly what we expected.
The biggest shocker undoubtedly comes from the addition of Internet sensation-turned-hip-hop icon, Rich Chigga, who will be the penultimate act of Day One’s Live Stage. The Indonesian comedian set the web community ablaze (some would say, ‘lit’) with his parody-slanted masterpiece, “Dat $tick”, with which he made the fanny pack cool again while catching the attention of hip-hop luminaries like Desiigner and Wu Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah.
This year also sees the spotlight shine on not just Singapore-based DJs like Oliver Osborne and Rave Republic, but also local producers and musicians like Myrne, Sam Rui, and Jasmine Sokko – all homegrown acts we’ve told you to watch out for.
Other standout reveals across the region include Bali’s Damian Saint and Malaysia’s JonnyVicious, two names Singaporean punters should be familiar with. Even big names from the international scene join the already-stuffed ensemble of acts – Australia’s “Melbourne Bounce” hustler Will Sparks, Miami’s GTA who fire out bass-booming goodies of hip-hop and trap, and Firebeatz from The Netherlands known for their big-room bravado.
Ultra Music Festival Singapore 2017, 10 and 11 June, Ultra Park, 1 Bayfront Avenue, Singapore 018971. For full information and the rest of the Phase 2 lineup, visit this website.
