We surrendered our aching bodies and dull skin to the experts at Le Petit Spa, a tranquil haven for rejuvenating massages and facials
Late nights and stress equates to body aches, puffy eyes and dull, ashen skin. Clearly, a visit to one of our favourite spas, Le Petit Spa, is completely necessary every now and again; and, this time, we desperately need to surrender ourselves to a long-awaited pampering sesh.
Located in a quiet corner of Orchard Road, Le Petit Spa is an urban oasis that will immediately transport you far away from your niggling worries. Before starting the treatments, we filled out a form to indicate our prior health conditions, pressure preferences, and the areas of our bodies that require the most attention. Confession; we listed almost everything – shoulders, back, calves… the full works!
It was a tough choice to make, but we eventually settled for the Deep Tissue Massage (the first trial is $88 for one hour and inclusive of complimentary hot stones), which particularly targets chronic pains like stiff necks, sore shoulders and leg muscle tightness. In order to reach the deepest layers of muscle tissue, our therapist applied deep pressure and slow, firm strokes to break up any adhesions, or bands of tight tissue clusters. The intense kneading of these adhesions is slightly painful (we were asked to relax and breathing deeply), but oh-so satisfying. Before long, we found ourselves lulled into a deep sleep.
Following an hour of total bliss, we began the Maria Galland Profilift Facial Treatment, which had us slipping into a deeper state of relaxation as our skilled and affable therapist worked her magic on our skin. The treatment works to plump up the skin from within (say hello to fewer wrinkles in just 60 minutes!) and re-sculpts facial contours as a result. The facial begun with a double cleansing and a gentle exfoliation to rid the skin of dead skin cells. A soft cream mask was then applied, which works like a vacuum to purify pores.
Next was the star of the show: a luxe concoction from Le Essence, a luxurious skin care range consisting of six pure essences and a wrinkle-reducing eye gel. Each essence targets different skin problems and is made with concentrated (and precious) ingredients like 24 carat gold and caviar extract. To rejuvenate our lacklustre skin, the fragrant Black Orchid essence was gently applied on to our skin, followed by more rubdowns on the head and shoulder, and a thoroughly relaxing MG hand treatment.
We had our peepers groomed too along with the facial, as it includes an eyebrow trim and an eye contour treatment that left our puffy eyes extremely refreshed (the lines around them were softened too). The blissful hour ended with a cream and sunblock to prep us for the day that we reluctantly had to return to. If, like us, you’d love to feel ridiculously rejuvenated and have your skin plumped and lifted – the Maria Galland Profilift Facial Treatment is priced at a steal of $148 for your first trial (U.P $198). To prolong the effects of the facial, buy three sessions at $399, which works up to a big discount per session, plus you’ll also receive a complimentary Profilift travel set.
