Dabble into the design world with workshops, conferences and exhibitions during Singapore Design Week from 3 to 12 March
Sure, our sunny island may be known and loved for its plethora of delish food and pristine and lush greenery, but as lovers of art and creativity, we’re also proud that Singapore also holds the title of a UNESCO Creative City of Design. Case in point of why we deserve this accolade? Enter the annual Singapore Design Week (SDW) – back for its fourth instalment this March with over 100 events and activities lined up, this is the best way to experience the innovation of the local design community.
Some highlights? Admire works by local designers at SingaPlural 2017, the annual anchor event of the SDW. With eye-catching displays on show at the F1 Pit Building, SingaPlural brings to us refreshingly new perspectives about how design influences our daily lives.
The International Furniture Fair Singapore 2017 is another feast for the eyes, featuring a huge range of furnishings, decorative accessories, interiors and fittings from a variety of exhibitors. Rather create your own work of art? Then put your hands to work at the Design, Make and Craft Fair at the National Library Building, where you’ll find workshops led by designers, makers and craftsmen.
For those already in the design scene, you can rub shoulders with leaders of the design world at the Innovation by Design Conference. Or if you’re completely wide-eyed and wish to dive deep into this fascinating field, witness the local creative community in action as you embark on a journey across the city with Design Trails: Design Day Out in the City.
