There’s a new Japanese restaurant in town, and these guys specialise in the ever-versatile chicken
Hotpot creations and Japanese fare – newcomer Hanamidori has pretty much everything we’re obsessed with. Hailing from Hakata in Kyushu, Japan, this casual eating spot in Singapore focuses on one thing and one thing only: Chicken.
The all-chicken menu features set meals, side dishes, and – perhaps most noteworthy of all – a hotpot option that’s great for two (or more) hungry folks. The latter – the Hanamidori Hana full course set – is priced at $25.90 (per pax) and comes with a slew of small plates and ingredients, including chawanmushi (with bits of chicken, of course), gyoza, grilled salmon and scallops, tsukune (which the staff roll into little delightful balls before letting them cook in the soup), and assorted vegetables. Note that the soup comes with a tad collagen in it, but if you’re a fan of the jelly-like substance, you can add 100 grams of it for just $2.90.
Other must-trys: the belly-warming mizutaki karaage ($7.90) – which is marinated in ponzu and yuzu pepper before it’s dropped in hot oil – as well as the sanzoku yaki ($11.90) – covered in a delicious black pepper sauce and served in a hotplate. If you’re ordering rice to go with your dishes, be sure to ask for a serving of the super addictive mentai takana (a.k.a. mustard greens, $5.90).
Can’t get enough of the collagen craze? Help yourself to some collagen pudding ($5.90) for dessert. The lusciously creamy creation has black sugar drizzled over it – what a sweet treat! There’s a matcha version of it, too, if you like.
