Feast on American diner classics like mac & cheese, burgers, and milkshakes at OverEasy’s hip, new outlet on Orchard Road
OverEasy is not new to Singapore’s dining scene, having served up one of the best all-American diner fare for the past seven years at its hip waterfront location at One Fullerton. And now, it’s bringing us more of that patented old-school Americana charm with the opening of a second outpost on Orchard Road.
The latest venture by the Lo & Behold Group (the same ingenious folks behind Tanjong Beach Club, The White Rabbit, Loof, The Black Swan, The Daily Round Up, and the soon-to-be-opened Odette), the new OverEasy is a funky joint centrally located on the Orchard Road strip where the first McDonald’s outlet in Singapore once stood. And as expected, it bears the same hallmarks as its predecessor: think iconic diner elements like cheeky neon signage (which reads “Shake ‘Em Buns”), linoleum tiles, cosy booths, and geometric wall murals in pastel bubblegum hues.
After getting used to the disconcerting feeling that you’ve travelled back in time to 1980’s Memphis, Tennessee, OverEasy’s gut-busting menu awaits. Here, timeless American comfort fare reigns supreme with diner classics we all know and love.
For starters, you’ll want to try an OverEasy Orchard exclusive: the addictive Popcorn Chicken with Salted Caramel Popcorn that’s perfect for sharing. And a star dish that’s definitely not to be missed (trust us on this) is the Mac & Cheeks: a sublime combination of gruyere and béchamel cheese sauce stuffed with melt-off-the-bone soft braised beef cheeks.
Moving on to mains, it’s all about the hearty burgers and sandwiches that’ll leave you loosening your belt notches while asking for more. Sink your teeth into The Truffle Burger (seared to perfection and topped with house-made truffle mayonnaise, sautéed onions and mushrooms), before getting acquainted with New York diner staples like Reuben Pastrami Sandwich and Waffles & Wings. Psst…here’s a tip: ask for the Beer Can Chicken, an Instagram-worthy secret off-menu item that’s well worth the hype.
Tough as it may be, you’d best leave room for the final round. OverEasy’s sweets and drinks menu is the stuff of every dessert-lover’s fantasies. Cap off your meal on a sweet note with the Bourbon Donut Holes with Homemade Fudge and a selection of decadent milkshakes like Sugar & Spice (spiced pineapple syrup, vanilla ice cream and fresh pineapple) and the adults-only Bacon Bourbon Milkshake (bacon and maple whiskey, triple sec, egg, and vanilla ice cream).
Lo & Behold’s Group Bar Mentor Julian Serna has also crafted a menu of quirky American-centric tipples – which range from shots like the Piggyback (house-infused bacon bourbon whiskey chased by a slice of candied bacon) and the Chocolate Boulevardier cocktail.
The best part about the new OverEasy? They’re serious about shopping too (well, sort of). Thanks to their Save Orchard Road Movement, anyone who flashes their shopping bags at OverEasy (before 6pm) will get a lemonade on the house. Sweet!
