Tippling Club’s new private dining space
Barely a year into its new home at Duxton Hill, Chef Ryan Clift’s award-winning temple of molecular gastronomy now spans two levels with the launch of Bin 38, a private dining space just above the main restaurant.
The swanky, three-part spot, created in collaboration with Australian winery Penfolds (its name combines the vino label’s famed Bin Series and Tippling Club’s address on Tanjong Pagar Road) and designed by founder of greymatters, Alan Barr (read his interview), consists of a 34-seat cocktail lounge, an intimate 12-seat dining area and a state-of-the-art R&D kitchen-lab where Clift and team play mad scientist.

Bin 38 has an entirely different design brief from the warm, eclectic décor downstairs. The sombre look, like a gentleman’s club, is debonair and classy with a slight raw edge, outfitted with lots of dark wood, plush velvet and leather seats, steel-framed glass panels, marbled counters and abstract art.
Of course, with an ambience this exclusive, the science-forward menu – care of Chef Clift – is fully customisable and paired with rare, aged Penfold wines. The Tippling Club menu is also available if you prefer the restaurant’s signature food and cocktail combination, with new yet-to-launch creations from the R&D test kitchen thrown into the mix. The important part: a minimum spend of $5000++ is required to book the space (we think it’s pretty reasonable for a party of over 10).
