We're still not sure what kind of Pokemon-themed dishes to expect at this cafe, but we know for certain that you've gotta catch 'em all! Oh, and that there's a giant Pikachu
Pika pika? Pika… No, we haven’t gone bonkers, but some diehard fans of the ginormously lauded Pokémon franchise might beg to differ. If you’re still feeling the electricity of Pikachu and his (her?) friends since the video game’s inception in 1995, you’ll definitely get a buzz from this piece of food news. Popping outta nowhere like a pocket monster from a Poké Ball, a Pokémon café (yup, another cartoon café!) will be taking over the premises of EWF (Everything With Fries) at Bugis Junction, from 27 May to 31 July. Yup, it’s only gonna be open for a transient two-month period, so you gotta catch ’em all – the heaps of hype, we mean.
From what we’ve heard so far, the brand that started out as a Japanese Game Boy game and evolved (pun intended) into a pop culture phenomenon will be occupying a 32sqm space, selling Pokémon franchise and Pokémon-themed dishes. But what does that mean?? Will we see ‘bubble beam’ seafood dishes? ‘Razor leaf’ salads? Steaks char-grilled by a Charmander? Your guess is as good as ours. But what we do know for sure is the inevitable build-up of monster queues hoping to get a chance to hug a giant Pikachu. You read that right – there will be giant Pikachus. *cue hyperventilating*
Pokémon Café @ EWF, #04-05 Bugis Junction, 200 Victoria Street, Singapore 188021, p. 6338 0135. Open 27 May to 31 July.
