Clear that mess on your dashboard, and make way for technology with this parking app that makes sure you pay for the time you use
They say there’s an app for everything – and soon, we’ll be able to say goodbye to those pesky parking coupons that take up too much time preparing and too much space on the dashboard. This isn’t a hoax; it’s even government-endorsed! Recently at the National Day Rally 2017, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong spoke about Parking.sg, an app that will do just that.
When the app is fully implemented in October, it will replace paper coupons (and perhaps the jobs of parking attendants?) at about 1,150 carparks. Another benefit of the app? You pay for what you use. As paper coupons only come in 30-minute or hourly blocks, the new app will do away with this inflexibility, and make sure that you only pay for how long you park. This means that charges are calculated on a per-minute basis, and will refund you if you park for a shorter period than intended to. And no more sprinting back to your vehicle if your appointment runs late!
Parking.sg will not only save motorists a lot of hassle, but will help push Singapore’s Smart Nation goal forward at the same time. Payment will, of course, be cashless. Roll it in, technology!
Parking.sg, available in October.
Stick to ‘public transport’ and make sure you download these apps and there’s apps for shopping as well, neat!
