Take your movie date to the park as the wildly popular outdoor theatre Films At The Fort presented by Casillero del Diablo heads back to Fort Canning Park this August
Living along the equator, we are blessed with good weather all year round, especially in the evening when the tropical sun sets. So it’s no surprise that Singapore’s premier open-air cinema was sold out in 2013 and 2014, and has quickly established itself as one of our favourite events in Singapore. This August, escape your boring four walls and head out for a dose of fresh air at Films At The Fort presented by Casillero del Diablo.
Held at the beautiful Fort Canning Park from 14th to 23rd August 2015, Films At The Fort presented by Casillero del Diablo offers you a cinematic experience like no other (so much more social than sitting in a dark and cold indoor cinema). Like Europe’s famous alfresco movie festivals, doors open at 5pm, encouraging you to arrive early and enjoy a glass of wine and a cheese platter with friends as the sun goes down. There is a fully stocked bar at the event, serving everything from Casillero de Diablo wines to boutique beers and ciders. The Providore will be on-site to serve you a delicious array of freshly prepared deli, dinner, and bakery options. While you can’t bring your own alcohol, you are allowed to pack your own food, but why bother when the prices are this reasonable.
A different award-winning film is screened each night of the event. From new releases to classics and documentaries, Films At The Fort presented by Casillero del Diablo has curated an outstanding programme that caters to both the blockbuster and serious film critics alike. If we had to pick our top three (it most certainly would have to be at gunpoint – the program list is way too good!), they would be eight academy-awards nominee Imitation Game (hello, Benedict Cumberbatch); The Broken Circle Breakdown, winner of the prestigious Cesar award that esteemed film critic Peter Bradshaw describes as “a deeply profound film about love and loss” (who are we to argue with that!); and thrilling documentary feature CitizenFour – a documentary film that provides intimate access to Edward Snowden at the actual moment he is leaking highly classified information to the world’s media. There are just so many awesome films on the programme that we might just have to attend all ten nights!
To top off an already outstanding event, every ticket holder will receive a complimentary Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and – wait for it – free Casillero del Diablo wine tastings! Time to round up the posse and enjoy a magical night under the starry summer sky. Tip: book your tickets early, as they were completely sold out in 2013 and 2014.
Tickets cost $27.80 and can be bought at Films At The Fort’s present by Casillero del Diablo website.
