This luxury watch takes inspiration from Gabrielle Chanel’s austere childhood in the Aubazine Abbey
It’s a peculiar tale, but this luxury watch from Chanel is one inspired by an austere childhood in an orphanage. Gabrielle Chanel’s formative years were spent in an orphanage in Aubazine, a tiny village in the South of France. Her childhood in the Aubazine Abbey was stark, frugal, and one that demanded strict discipline. But her time spent in the abbey was not without a silver lining.
The Aubazine Abbey’s Romanesque aesthetics, motifs, and geometric stained-glass windows indelibly left a mark on Gabrielle Chanel’s imagination – thus, the Mademoiselle Privé Dècor Aubazine collection was created.
The exclusive collection of three designs features luxurious materials like white gold and diamonds (brilliant-cut and baguette-cut) inlaid in balanced, geometric patterns. Each of the iconic creations is numbered and limited to five pieces per design.
