Tap into your inner child at Choking Hazard: An Exhibition About Toys at Kult Gallery, happening from 17 February to 18 March
’Fess up, we all bawled our eyes out over that one scene in Toy Story 3. If you have a soft spot for toys – it’s a universal guilty pleasure – then you’ll wanna enter Kult Gallery’s latest zany exhibition.
The underground art studio – it’s where Kult Kafe is located – will be throwing a toy-themed showcase called Choking Hazard: An Exhibition About Toys from 17 February to 18 March. What’s the catch here? All the toys you’ll see here are made up of dismantled parts from older toys – upcycling done right to combat the waste of mass production. There, the works of 30 artists and toymakers will be showcased, including creations from international big names Sket One and Jason Freeny.
Choking Hazard also has a disassembling section specially designated for visitors to embrace their inner Sid (the antagonist from the first Toy Story) where there’ll be a treasure trove of second-hand toys you can take apart and re-assemble to create your very own monstrosity masterpiece. The best part? You’ll even get to take it home.
Who said you’re too old to play with toys, huh?
