Escape your daily grind with this five-star luxury hotel at Marina Bay where you’ll experience ritzy accommodation, delectable buffets and more
I hear you, city life can be a tad overwhelming at times, so what better way to shoo the stress away and catch a breather (without having to deal with the hassles of jetsetting) than to have a weekend staycation? For one pampering weekend, I decided to take a chill pill and booked myself a staycation at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore. While the hotel has been around for a while, what drew me (and probably other serial staycationers) to this classy hotel was its one-of-a-kind staycay package entitled the Suite Escape. Together with my ultimate bff, we were lucky enough to experience an unforgettable stay at this snazzy hotel through this luxe package.
A fancy, stylish and extravagant Premier Suite
The Suite Escape package offers a one-night stay in the hotel’s Premier Suite, and I have to say that the room was definitely the highlight of my staycay! To be honest, I’m usually doubtful with staycations, for the simple reason that I don’t really see the point of spending to stay in another room when I can simply tuck myself into my comfy bed in my own humble abode (without having to fork out a single coin, mind you!). But boy oh boy, the loft-like Premier Suite at The Ritz-Carlton made me a convert! Sophisticated, slick and unabashedly opulent, this suite totally blew my mind away. It was like walking into my dream room – clean furniture finds with minimalist décor, a consistent earthy colour scheme, and wide-open spaces. A perfect weekend pad to escape from it all!

My favourite part of the room, you ask? Simply put, I’m in love with every inch of the space. The living room area is spacious with a vast window flaunting a picturesque view of Singapore’s Marina Bay skyline. Here, you’ll also find an inviting sofa-bed where you can sprawl shamelessly while enjoying timeless flicks from the 46-inch LED TV. A comfy, plush king-size bed takes centre-stage in the bedroom, piled with an array of sinfully soft pillows that’ll usher you into slumberland in no time. The Marble bathroom boasts a palatial tub that we’re certain (like me) you’ll be soaking in for some time; many famous Instagrammers even capture their money shots with this famous window over the tub. I am also grateful for its dual Marble vanities – you don’t have to fight over the sink in the morning!
Palate-pleasing buffet breakfast at Colony
Morning hunger pangs are taken care of here; the staycay package here provides either a buffet breakfast at Colony or an in-room American breakfast set for two persons. As tempting as it may sound to have breakfast in bed, my best friend and I simply couldn’t resist having a delectable buffet breakfast at the glitzy hotel restaurant, Colony. Decked with a curated assortment of bespoke furniture, with vintage accessories like old maps and postcards around the vicinity, Colony is indeed an elegant British colonial-inspired restaurant that will awe you with its interior and, more importantly, its extensive food offerings. From the Ice Bar and Grill & Rotisserie to the Wok and Fruit Stall, you’ll find eight different conservatory kitchens that feature ‘live’ culinary showmanship. Be it Chinese, Indian, Malaysian, Western or even local cuisines, Colony serves it all.

After devouring a delicious offering of Western staples (scrambled eggs, sausages, baked beans and grilled buttered veggies), I decided to give its roti prata a shot. Roti prata is my go-to comfort food for breakfast, so I naturally have high expectations. The verdict: the prata at Colony doesn’t disappoint at all. Cripsy yet fluffy, the prata was cooked to perfection. What’s more? The chicken curry was cooked delicately, complementing the flatbread well with its milky, thick texture. Not to mention, we were impressed by the selection of bite-sized kuehs there – doesn’t get more traditional than that!
Perks of a late check-out
What makes this package even more enticing is that it allows a late check-out at 4pm. Forget about speeding through breakfast and scrambling to pack; I could enjoy my luxurious room for a few more extra hours! A late check-out also allows you to enjoy other facilities at the hotel – pump some iron in the gym and take a dip in the pool after? Sounds like a plan.
Other noteworthy plus points
The package also comes with other perks including a SGD50 hotel credit per stay which can be used for spa and dining. And another plus point? The hotel’s wonderful location in the heart of the city. Nestled within the precinct of Marina Bay, you’re surrounded by world-class attractions, shopping malls and lots more. Gardens by the Bay, ArtScience Museum, Millenia Walk, Marina Square; there’s plenty for you to do within the area. You’ll hardly encounter boredom during your stay here; I can vouch for that!
