In this month's edition of Hot New Tables: Raven Restaurant & Bar, Humpback, CATO, and more
Wondering where to eat in Singapore? Rooftop hangouts, oyster bars, exotic cuisines – if you’re looking for new restaurants in Singapore, you won’t be disappointed with the choices this September.
Raven Restaurant & Bar
Featuring both North and South American cuisine with a local twist, this new arrival to CHIJMES is the brainchild of the Urban City Hospitality Group (the same folks behind cocktail bar House of Dandy). On the menu are signatures like the Raven Burger and a roasted cauliflower steak, and over at the bar, you can throw back drinks like the Cucumber Rickey – a mix of cucumber-infused Hendrick’s gin, Benedictine D.O.M., and freshly squeezed lime and tonic water.
Raven Restaurant & Bar, #B1-01/02 CHIJMES, 30 Victoria Street, Singapore 18799, p. 8798 2724. Open Sun-Tue 5pm-1am, Wed-Sat 5pm-2am.
Humpback
Oysters from all over the world are the main stars of this small-plate seafood joint on Bukit Pasoh Road. Pair them with lovely white spirit cocktails (there are 12 signature mixes to choose from) and other bites like mussels with pork belly and beetroot carpaccio with curd, citrus and pine nuts.

CATO
Find Modern Asian creations at CATO, a new dining spot on South Bridge Road. Try dishes like the spicy prawn risotto, crispy squid with a spicy-sweet Thai glaze, and the sinful Loaded Beef Beer Chilli Cheese Fries for a decadent treat. Craft beer enthusiasts, make a beeline for the bar to enjoy your favourite brew on tap; the selection changes every now and then, but look out for choices like Crew Republic’s Drunken Sailer Indian Pale Ale and Schlenkerla Helles Lagerbier.
CATO, 237 South Bridge Road, Singapore 058786, p. 8299 6434. Open Tue-Fri 5pm-12am, Sat 5pm-1am. Closed Sun & Mon.
Delicacy
The menu at this cosy eatery on Gemmill Lane may not be the most extensive, but the guys in the kitchen sure know what they’re doing with their tightly curated list of available creation. Try delights like the walnut croquetas (comes with walnut truffle mayo), the grilled prawns with chilli flakes and soya cream sauce, and desserts like the banana rice pudding (if you have room, the churros is great as well).
Delicacy, 10 Gemmill Lane, Singapore 069251, p. 9830 0908. Open Mon-Thu 11:30am-3pm, 6:30pm-10pm, Fri 11:30am-3pm, 6:30pm-11pm, Sat 6:30pm-11pm, Sun 10:30am-3pm.
RedBank Bar & Grill
This all-American dining destination is all about the steak and other East Coast favourites – think Maryland soft shell crab, Virginia-style crab cakes, and oyster biscuits. Don’t leave out the awesome sides like mac and cheese and hush puppies!

Tiger’s Milk
Pop by this Peruvian rooftop bar and grill for a taste of Latin America. Check out the dining spot’s centrepiece, the ceviche bar, tuck into creations like wagyu beef rib fingers and lamb heart, and down tasty pisco mixes from the cocktail menu.

Kaiserhaus
Located in the heart of Capitol Piazza is Kaiserhaus – a contemporary restaurant serving cuisine of the former Austrian-Hungarian Empire. Reminiscent of a traditional Viennese coffee house, this spacious dining destination is all about meat, meat and well, more meat. Of noteworthy mention is the Viennese schnitzel (an Austrian must-try) and the tender, lip-smacking gourmet beef. Food comes in huge portions so you might want to wear your baggy pants for this.
Kaiserhaus, #02-06/#03-06 Capitol Theatre, 17 Stamford Road, Singapore 178907, p. 6377 0013. Open Sun-Thu 10:30am-12am, Fri-Sat 10:30am-1am.
Charcoal Pit
Head to this rooftop barbecue joint for a full-on meat-fest. Order items like the Charcoal Pit Burger or the baby back ribs, go for a big, juicy steak (check the board for the daily specials), or settle for small plates like grilled bone marrow to share with your posse.
Charcoal Pit, #12-00 Realty Centre, 15 Enggor Street, Singapore 079716, p. 8822 5991. Open Mon-Sat 11am-10pm. Closed Sun.
