Help honour the memory of the late cervical cancer fighter, and support her daughter Elsa by heading to this fundraiser at Oxwell & Co.
The mood at Honeycombers HQ has been sombre lately – we’ve received word of the recent passing of cervical cancer fighter, Juliet Recordon. Hers was a heart-wrenching story we have been following closely. Juliet fought her obstacles with astonishing positivity and ferocity – an especially admirable feat as life didn’t just deal her with one challenge, but two. As a result of a complicated birth, her two-year-old daughter, Elsa, suffers from multiple illnesses including severe cerebral palsy, brain damage and blindness in one eye. Her father, Simon, is now caring for her in hospital.
Simon himself is a true hero; for the past two years, he worked intermittently as he cared tirelessly for his two girls. A combination of limited income, little help from insurance companies, hefty medical costs (leading to depleted life savings – they’d spent over 900k to date) have led to a dire need for raising funds for treatments via their GoFundMe page. Prior to Juliet’s passing, a fundraiser at Oxwell & Co. on 11 February was already in the works. In honour of her determination to live life to the fullest with her family, and as support for Elsa, the fundraiser is slated to go on.
Tickets are $245 for a three-course dinner with drinks, or $95 for finger food and three drinks (after which there will be a cash bar). Every single cent raised will go directly to Elsa’s ongoing critical, life-saving treatment. RSVP by 4 February 2016 to [email protected]. If you’d like to follow Juliet and Elsa’s story and show support, head to their crowdfunding site to help them reach their goal of $705,000 to cover the cost of medical treatment.
