Struggling to stay motivated when it comes to health and fitness? Here're our top tips to help you stay on track; from clean eats and healthy snacks, to the best exercise and yoga classes in town
Life in Singapore is a helluva lot of fun; in fact, sometimes it can be too much fun. Free-flow brunches, ladies’ nights, delish hawker stalls on every corner; it’s all too easy to lead a crazy life of eat, drink, sleep, repeat. While we love to live full throttle occasionally, 90% of the time, we try our hardest to live healthy (honest!). But being surrounded by so many temptations makes it pretty easy to get sidetracked and fall off the wagon. So if you’re lacking in willpower, fret not, for we have compiled a list of five top tips to make staying on the straight and narrow that little bit easier.
Don’t be lazy at lunch
Our biggest #fail is hitting starvation levels right around 11.45 in the morning; unhealthy lunch choices always prevail when we start getting hangry! Make it your mission to scout out the local area and find the healthiest joints that are quick, convenient, and reasonably priced. Failing that, use trusty food app, Deliveroo, to get healthy nosh delivered straight to your office, or check out our round-up of clean eats and low fat meals in the city. Enjoy!
Stock up on healthy snacks
Step away from the chocolate! Be sure to have some healthy nibbles on hand to stave off those hunger pangs. We recommend stocking up on Nature’s Wonders Baked Fruits and Nuts selection; it’s packed with macadamias, almonds, walnuts, cashews, and cherries. A handful of this powerhouse nutty mix will keep your rumbling tum at bay and ensure your vitamin and mineral count remains high. Alternatively, if potato chips are your biggest downfall, switch to UCA Cassava Chips instead. Free of trans-fat, gluten, and cholesterol, they are a healthier choice when those cravings kick in.
Detox!
That time when you’ve had too much fun, over-indulged on wine, food, and partying, and vow to yourself “never again!“? We’ve all been there. So give your liver a break and pump yourself with a fresh juice hit or full-on detox. Lucky for us, juice bars are popping up ten a penny right now. Here’s our pick of the best juice bars to replenish your vitamin stocks, or go all out on a juice cleanse.
Get moving
When life gets busy, the first thing that gets ditched from our schedule is exercise. Though since discovering the convenience of fitness passes like Guavapass, Kfit, and Passport Asia, it’s that little bit easier to keep the exercise momentum going. We love the variety of classes available, the ease of booking via an app, and that there are classes available (seemingly) at all hours of the day.
Chill out
It ain’t all about food and exercise. We say retox your brain too by jumping on the wellness and mindfulness bandwagon. Check out our top yoga haunts to top up your zen levels, or sign up for one of these ace yoga and mindfulness sessions – two birds, one stone; now you’re talking.
