We’re all prepped for war because winter is finally here – and so are our favourite characters from the HBO series
We don’t know about the rest of you, but most of us here at Honeycombers are super stoked about Game of Thrones returning for a new season on 16 July.
It doesn’t help that the new trailers released are teasing some very big scenes for our favourite characters in Season 7. What we know so far: there’s definitely going to be a war because #winterishere. What we don’t know: who will win.
So for some fun and games, we rounded out our resident Game Of Thrones fans and demanded to know their alliances and loyalties. Oh, and be warned: SPOILERS BELOW.

Favourite character: Khal Drogo… Oh wait, he’s dead [hur hur]. My favourite has got to be Lord Varys ’cause the dude is cunning AF.
What you want to see in Season 7: Dragons killing people. Dragons hopefully killing Euron Greyjoy. Battles with the White Walkers. Bran’s flashbacks into the past. Finally confirming that Jon is a Targaryean.
Who will win the Game of Thrones: I want the House of Stark to win. I want to see Daenerys take over King’s Landing. And I kinda hope the White Walkers kill a lot of people (but no one important).

Favourite character: It’s a tough call between Bronn (because he’s just so darn nonchalant) and Ygritte (because she made Jon Snow know a thing or two). And Ser Pounce, because cat.
What you want to see in Season 7: Cersei kicking ass.
Who will win the Game of Thrones: Podrick. Because he has the biggest sword in Westeros.
Niki Bruce, Editorial Director
Favourite character: The winter king … wears lots of black, freezes stuff, just keeps on coming. I also quite like Arya for her scrappy fighter underdog thing and the dragons are super cool; especially the black one.
What you want to see in Season 7: The dragons, Cersei’s clothes (also Cersei getting her head chopped off by her twin/lover) and the Winter King.
Who will win the Game of Thrones: Winter is already here.
Dinesh Ajith, Writer
Favourite character: Jon Snow. George RR Martin so nonchalantly kills off characters, so having Jon Snow get deus ex machina-ed back to life has got to mean something. Besides that, he’s always been the underdog (wolf?) and treated like a bastard, but despite all that, he’s shown his loyalty as a Stark through and through.
What you want to see in Season 7: I’ve been waiting six seasons to see a dragon properly barbecue someone’s army. Season 7 has got to deliver!
Who will win the Game of Thrones: Tyrion Lannister. Despite his many vices, he’s proven to be a wise, charismatic leader. He’s kind too, which probably means he’s going to die. But I can hope, right?
Cam Khalid, Writer
Favourite character: My kniggat, the Onion Knight! In a world of Chris Brown’s Loyal, can you find anyone more trustworthy? Serving you maximum loyalty (as he does for Stanis Baratheon), Ser Davos Seaworth is more than just a P.A.; he’s a diamond in the rough. Plus, no one knows hardship more than this ace Flea Bottom underdog.
What you want to see in Season 7: Looking forward to the badass battles scenes ‘cos, you know, “winter is here“. And any other relevant characters off the books. Not looking forward to the fact that this season will only have six episodes, though.
Who will win the Game of Thrones: Anyone can win. So maybe the Night King or Ed Sheeran (he’s making a cameo), perhaps? Who knows. Or maybe no one, if you want to get into the nitty gritty of Dany’s House of the Undying vision. But for the record, my bet’s on Jon Snow because the man’s got main character powers (or just powers of the two power houses in Westeros – but we’ll save that for another day).
Jacp Fong, Account Director
Favourite character: Jon Snow is my all time fave. He’s an underdog who is not scheming, has just been genuine and has fought his way up. His life is sad, full of twists, yet somehow always ends up heroic. He is honourable and a great leader. He loved the impossible – oh, Ygritte! He came back from the dead and won even more hearts! And of course – he is handsome!
What you want to see in Season 7: Can’t decide what I’m looking forward to the most I really hope Jon Snow gets closer to the Iron Throne, Queen Cersei gets taken down mercilessly, Daenerys conquers more kingdoms with Tyrion back as her adviser, and Sansa’s and Littlefinger’s plot fails, so she has no choice but to just marry him and stop her silly acts.
Who will win the Game of Thrones: Jon Snow, ’cos he has all the reasons to do so and it is obvious from the last season that he is closer to it! I think Daenerys will fail; although she is trying to rule all seven kingdoms, she is just not the right material. But again, GOT always makes my jaw drop with the cliffhangers, so it might be Arya Stark for all I know!

Favourite character: Daenerys Targaryen. She is mhysa, she is life.
What you want to see in Season 7: Arya Stark finishing off her kill list. Jon Snow vs The Night’s King. Cersei being roasted by Daenerys and her dragons.
Who will win the Game of Thrones: Daenerys. She’s the unburnt, the breaker of chains, the mother of dragons. Also she has Tyrion and Lord Varys. So yes, the odds are pretty good for her, which means IT’S NOT GONNA BE THAT SIMPLE bye
Delfina Utomo, Writer
Favourite character: I’ve always admired how Cersei has been so consistently wicked but somewhere in Season 6, especially in the finale, she became my favourite character of GOT. She’s not just evil, but she’s a deep, multi-dimensional evil and the most nuanced one of the characters. I think in Season 7, she’s in this position where she has nothing to lose but everything to gain from now on.
What you want to see in Season 7: The white walkers to kill the s**t out of everyone (the Hardhome episode in Season 5 is still my absolute favourite) because I just want to watch the world burn.
Who will win the Game of Thrones: As much as I love Cersei, I think she’s gonna die horribly in Season 7. So real talk: I think classic good guy Jon Snow will win. He already died once, so this fella will just win, win, win in Season 7, right? Actually, anyone but Danaerys is OK with me. GIRL BYE.
Make our dreams come true, Game Of Thrones!
