This pop-up market will showcase art and crafts, local music, spoken word, workshops, craft beer and more
By now, it should come as no surprise that we’re huge advocates of the #supportlocal movement; we’re always waxing lyrical about the best of Singapore’s scene, whether it’s musicians, chefs or designers. We’ve got a serious spot for the city’s bazaars and flea markets – these are, after all, the breeding ground for the best of Singapore’s talent, especially when they’re organised by The Local People. These guys are dedicated to showing love for artisans and craftsmen at their buzzy markets – they’ve been doing it for years – and you can expect no less at their third birthday bash happening this weekend.
Held on 27 May at the Golden Mile Tower Car Park, this market won’t be your standard bazaar; for one, it’ll feature interactive art installations for visitors to walk through and games like makeshift badminton. If you prefer to kick back with a beer (there’ll be craft beer served up by Applehops and Intermission Bar – at The Projector), catch spoken word performances as well as live music from artists like Heue and Joyce Gan. Want to try your hand at being a craftsman? Learn how to leather stamp at The Maketh Project‘s free embossing workshop – come early, as this is limited to the first 50 people.
More on the lineup includes fundraising games by The Social Co (we hear there’ll be beer pong and fantastic rewards, including a staycay at Wanderlust Hotel). And naturally, any event by The Local People is never complete without an art market – shop quaint knick-knacks from creators and makers like Shop Paper Cranes and Alfie De Meow.
The Local People Park Art Market is happening on 27 May from 6pm to 12am at Golden Mile Tower, Level 5, 6001 Beach Road, Singapore 199589.
