The Galaxy far, far away comes a little closer with this fully immersive, Westworld-esque Star Wars-themed hotel
Star Wars fans have had a pretty good few years, starting with Disney’s takeover of the franchise, the announcement of a new trilogy, three anthology movies (Rogue One, an untitled Han Solo film, and a mysterious third movie), and a resurgence in Star Wars merchandise and activities. Backed by the entertainment powerhouse that is Disney, the brand has just announced one of its most exciting new offerings – a Star Wars-themed resort.
Now this is more than just a hotel with staff dressed up as Star Wars characters serving blue milk at a bar – it’s a fully immersive experience where staff will remain in character for the duration of the stay. Adding to the immersion, all the hotel’s windows will display panoramic views of space, cementing the idea that your entire experience takes place in a starship. More exciting still, Disney promises that each guest will have a personal storyline that will “touch every single minute of your day”; fans of the Westworld TV series will find the concept eerily similar. Barring any rogue ‘hosts’, this is, without a doubt, the closest you can get to living in Star Wars.
Unfortunately, there are only plans to open the unnamed Star Wars hotel in Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida. If you’ve got no interest in the rest of the House of Mouse, this might be the push you need to plan a trip to Florida.
