Want younger, smoother, and brighter-looking skin? (Who doesn’t?) The Clifford Clinic in Raffles Place has just the beauty recipe you’re looking for
When the opportunity to review a new spa or beauty clinic comes up – there is frenzy in the office. Everyone wants to try out the latest facials, skin treatments and aesthetic treatments in Singapore and find out if they really work. Will I look younger, fresher, more rested? Well, with the amazing results I got from a visit to The Clifford Centre, I can safely say – yes, yes, yes! Let me walk you through it:
First up: consultation
It certainly didn’t hurt to have a young, rather (um-hum), good-looking Dr Gerard Ee talk to you about your problem areas. He was very thorough and provided lots of information on the range of facial treatments that the clinic offers – from what they do to the downtime for each treatment.
I opted for a HydraFacial – because it sounded oh-so relaxing, and is said to deliver results with zero downtime. The clinic boasts a full range of aesthetic treatments, from laser skin treatments for ache, scars and pigmentation, to the new-age thread lift, fillers and Botox. I was very keen to try the latest Edge Fractional laser treatment that promises to remove fine lines and wrinkles and plump up the skin, but it does have 3-4 days downtime – so I’m saving that for my next visit.
Here we go: the HydraFacial
The treatment starts, like any standard facial, with gentle cleansing and exfoliation to remove dead skin cells. An acid peel is applied next to loosen the dirt from the pores. The therapist then uses a vacuum-cum-hydro-water cleaner machine on my skin. It has a weird sensation (but not uncomfortable) as the machine applies high-pressure water and suction to clear the pores thoroughly. No painful extractions!
Antioxidants-rich and hyaluronic-infused formulations came next, and the facial was finished with a solid shoulder and neck massage (always a winner in my book!) to melt away stress, and, finally, protective creams to help maintain results. I was blown away by the texture of my skin post-treatment – it was just so smooth to touch!
Throw in the add-ons
Dr Gerard pointed out at the end of my session that many clients opt for the HydraFacial with a quick laser and/or botox pep-up to follow. It was just too tempting to not give botox a try — you only live once, right? We really like Dr Gerard’s approach. He recommended just doing three small dots of botox around each eye — to smooth out the ‘crow’s feet lines’ that appeared when I smiled. I have to say, I was extremely impressed – it was low pain, serious gain.
I don’t think I will ever spend money on a facial that doesn’t use some of the technology The Clifford Clinic has. The impact from the technology on the skin’s texture and brightness was seriously out of this world.
Trying is believing
The Clifford Clinic is centrally located – it’s smacked right in the middle of Raffles Place in the CBD. A little warning though: the clinic was quite busy on a Friday afternoon, and it seems like half of Singapore was popping out at lunchtime for a treatment. Smart – but that also means you should book an appointment way ahead.
